hey guys, it been a while since i posted. here are the updates:

New Parts

Cragar soft 8 wheels 15x8, Ruff Stuff Simple Swap Kits and Spring Hangers, Factory Replacement YJ Leafs with Poly Bushings.

Progress

Tore Down the Dana 300 for the rebuild. After i got it torn apart i decided that i wanted to do the LoMax 4:1 kit... so i am waiting for it to come in the mail before i put it back together.

Tore down the front dana 44

Ground off all mounts on rear dana 44

Capped the front of the frame and measured for the shacke hangers.

Today i was finally able to weld everything into place for the rear axle except for the shock mounts.

I understand the whole money thing, but you're already dropping serious coin on this thing, why not build it right the first time?


dana 44's are plenty strong when you dont drive like a drunken idiot. plus you get more ground clearance.
 
I called down to the metal shop yesterday to have some diamond plates to go over both sides of the weld. I also had them make me some gussets as well.


here are some more pics of the progress. i had to outboard the front springs to keep the perches will clear the diff. i will be putting some gussets on the backside of the bumper to help strengthen the setup.

I learned how to sharpen drill bits by hand and it has saved me a bunch of money....lol.

i just finished up my dana 300. i put in a 29 spline input shaft, Lomax 4:1, and rebuild kit. that was a totally new experience for me...lol. i still have to put a good coat of paint on it.

i got my gears and detroit locker installed in the rear axle. then i sent the axle off to the sandblaster. i bought some commercial grade rust stopper/preventer paint from summit racing, which will be used as a primer and them top coat it will black tractor paint. both axles and the frame will be painted like this.

Long Way

That CJ-8 has come a long way from when you first started on it. It's looking good. I can't wait to see the finished product with that aluminum tub.:jeep:

thanx man, i will get all of you guys together again when it come time to put the body back on...lol. you should post up some pics of your LJ on NC4x4. it looks good.

Thanks for the compliment. Unfortunately I haven't been keeping up with taking photos during its progession. Maybe Woodkrawler will post his latest progress, though.:jeep:
 
Finally got all the fishplates and gussets welded and finished the front springs. then i put the shafts in the rear d44 and had the front D44 sandblasted. finished it all up with some summit primer.
