That is so full of fact!
I too was brought up the hard way with a lot of "STFU and drive". Forget learning with an automatic. Old 4 speed Chevy. Dad also drove 18 wheelers for a few years across country with 48&53' flatbeds, just to compound the hell I had to go through. His skills behind the wheel with a trailer in tow is almost unreal.
There's two things I would never attempt to challenge him at: hitching/parking a trailer in places that most would never even attempt, and a game of pool.
Nope.....and nope.
Papa DOES NOT play. o_O

Lol that sounds like my uncle he was a truck driver and when I was little he use to pull a box van up cove creek and to the top of the mountain going into Cataloochee. We had a guy buck at driving a bobtail truck up to where he use to go

After watching a dickhead block the only way in and out of a jobsite, for no other apparent reason than look around, for about 5 minutes with someone waiting to get out, I began to wonder, which did we loose first common sense or common courtesy?

Unloading ammo is more fun than loading.

Had a Astro come in for trans leak.. owner suspected front pump seal.. turned out to be a line.. I was looking forward to that trans r&r, they are cake. Damn it, why do I have to be as honest & straight up as I am!?!? Most other shops would fix the line & bill for the TC seal... I can't do that. I'd still sleep comfortably, but I wouldn't be able to converse with customer normally. (Say $475-$700 (w or w/o pump) vs $100 all in)... Yeah almost every shop in town would bill high end (even if not r&r trans) as long as the leak was fixed... Annoys me, greatly. In both senses, that other shops would charge for work not performed and also annoys me that I refuse to cheat people but that they do, and I could do, and both get away with, with no one the wiser. Not in my heart to cheat someone like that... Sure, I'm in business to make money, but by rendering NEEDED services

1 - good for you for being honorable. In the long run that's worth so much more.
2 - even if you just do the seal and charge for that - you are still making money, assuming your price is properly set.

Aaaahhh...

You go for a run first thing in the morning, come home dripping with sweaty nastiness.
Jump in the shower, get all clean, feeling nice and fresh.
Then pick up your sweat-soaked clothes off the bathroom floor to put away, including damp undies.
Eeeeeewwww.

(I think it's time to get a hamper for the bathroom)

Internet forum rule #1:
Ye shall not post of a man's moist undies.

I feel obligated to point out that YOU described my undies as moist. I did not.
Now - can we please change the subject before any awkward eye contact is made?

That question comes to mind everytime I buy a tank of fuel.:shaking:

Think of it as acquiring a long term customer when that happens. They appreciate your honesty in today’s works because many places create work. Similar situation happened last week when a customer of mine had been quoted to replace her steering box by a dealership, it was a worn draglink end. If only I could keep her boyfriends paws off of it because he proudly told me he tightened up the adjustment nut on the steering box....

I do believe Dave is a liar...

Yes, repeat business. Plus, word gets around that you're an honest guy and are capable of finding and fixing the actual problem. You're actually talking about ethics here, not whether or not your pricing structure is competitive to what other shops try to get away with.

If I find a shop run by a person like you that I trust and am confident in, I'm fiercely loyal and will refer to lots friends who need shop services. I'm not sure how common that is these days, except among like-minded people (probably many people here).
Someone has to do all those things that I don't have time to mess with, don't have the tools for, or don't want to touch at all (air conditioning, especially). Why are those things mostly on the wife's car....?

brand new lenovo laptop with a screen shot and ms paint, why?

See if I ever try and help you again...
I do appreciate the help, but I can't see a darn thing in your screenshot. Paint probably compressed the that out of it when you saved it.

Here's what it looks like on my end.
