Yeti wins against Rtic

ANother option is canyon....they actually make a different product than all the other roto-molded me too's

One of the guys I work with has one strapped to his ladder rack. I think he paid $90 for it...its worth checking out. I may have seen a 55 gallon drum full of oil sat on top of it once for logistic purposes...

pictures of, and where do they sell them?

You forgot the sticker kit :stupid:

Edit, looked at it too hard. It's on the way.
Sounds like the line I told my wife thru out my 20's

I have one of the 7gal yeti. i can not get my walmart coleman to do what it does with as little ice. A little salt or pre cooling, and it just goes and goes. I dont even have to buy ice anymore, just dump the freezer tray and go. In this way i can make more use of the capacity as well. where with the bigger coleman i have to have an enormous amount of ice.

I dunno. I think they do work. I think they are awesome and fun to own. There is always that "i would never pay retail" truth tho...

Until i owned it, however, I never once had a complaint about my 12gal coleman that i kicked and slung around. Never failed a 3 day camping trip as long as it was filled to the brim with ice

I don't buy ice any more either.

4 of these (gallon size) frozen solid will keep my RTIC 110 cold for 4 days, with enough room for the food and drinks to feed at least 3 people

Old thread, but with YETI making a dumber business move than Dick's by ticking off the majority of their customer base, I think RITC is going to smoke them now.

If any of you are going to blow up your YETI cooler with tannerite, I'll 'dispose' of it properly for you. ;)

That’s funny, my YETI is definitely PRO-gun.

Canyon 55 off of Amazon for $300 shipped. This is supposedly the absolute best HD cooler in existence right now. I can live without it but it makes a nice seat. Easy to clean, yada yada. For a three day trip of less, an old junky Coleman still works. People make nice things seem nicer only to justify overspending. I'll just tell you like it is.

Well...only one....NOT coming back to the office in a bigger vehicle and taking it home instead of stuffing it into my company car to get it home

That's another thing in itself. What I dislike most about carrying one around, is that everyone likes them. They'll get stolen from you in a heartbeat.
In my world of river and lake camping, the people that pull up and compliment me on my cooler are the same ones that'll ride by my campsite and steal the entire thing in the split second it's unattended. It's one extra thing to think about. I'm glad I drive a big enclose SUV instead of a pickup because I'd have to keep it chained and locked everywhere I went.
The only time of year that it's worth having a cooler that'll hold ice for over a week is when it's 85-100+ degrees outside. Am I going to push my motorized means of transportation or myself that long to justify that long of a period without going for fuel to somewhere when I can just as easily pick up a bag of ice? No thanks.

I use my cooler EVERY single weekend of my life. It's nice, well built, and good for bragging rights, but it's more than 99% of folks will ever need. Logic and planning makes for a great experience outdoors. Expensive coolers honestly don't have such a crucial place in that mix as many want to believe.

But still, I guess it's worth it. Barely.

I don’t think I’d trust a cheap igloo or whatever to keep me upright if I stand on it in the boat thrashing around out in the ocean. The Yeti or similar cooler is expensive but I’ve stood on a cheap cooler in the boat and nearly paid the price multiple times. It’s flimsy and slides around and rocks way too much for my big ass. I can stand on the Yeti with confidence it’s not flipping out from under me when we hit some rollers out in the ocean. I’m even comfortable casting and fishing while standing on the lid too.

Or, you know, you could... not stand on the cooler. That's probably the best idea. If I were you, I'd be more concerned about a PFD and a lifeline, but whatever.

But the cooler can serve as the PFD. Duh. That's the brilliance of it having all that vacuum and air and no ice in it.

I bought my YETI for the bear certification. Hunting/camping out west, my buddy said to bring a real cooler that the bears can’t get into. If a bear finds food at your campsite, campsite has to move, because they’ll be back again tomorrow.

Mine is a 65 qt pelican. Bought it 2 years ago cause where I work we spend 2-3 weeks in the field (Army camping) every month. We eat what we bring so I needed something roomy and reliable. I went pelican cause the army uses them for all sorts of storage/transport of fragile and sensitive items. I have seen them blown up, ran over, dropped (literally out of an airplane when the parachute failed), dragged, and live through all of it. And it was way cheaper than the Yeti at the time. Honesty a guy I work with has a 65qt yeti and I think mine holds ice longer but I “cool it down” before I pack it out and not sure if he does. Louisiana heat ain’t no joke so not having to go get ice every other day is nice.

Came in yesterday. Didn't see the part about fitting a 2 lt drink upright in the ad, so, this may change my drink carrying on the trail!

The canyon does have some nice latches. That's one of the things that made me buy mine.

I have kept my Rtic in my bed for weeks at a time, not too worried, the tailgate on my truck locks when the doors do. I would like to see someone try to pick up a full rtic 65 and lift it over the bed, it can be done but it's makes a scene and takes longer than most thief's will risk.

Only a non-thinking theif. "If, I were a theif" I'd dump it, and carry it away empty! Just sayin.
