Random pic thread.

Id run an old tag. Same as year model. All they require is to have the issued tag in the vehicle with the registration. So only if youre stopped do they know the antique tag applies. Almost all the cars with these tags are modified, havent seen or heard of the cops making an issue about it

I don’t run Antique tags on my Scrambler or Plymouth because technically you can get a ticket here in NC if you are driving it on a weekday with no intentions for a parade, etc. Antique plates are only for weekend driving or parade use since you do get a break in fees

Now how often would a cop look/care? Who knows for you but for me I’d get snagged first time out.

Not any more...in NC....just has to be 35, and a one-time inspection at title or initial registration for safety compliance for that year model.

NCDOT: Other Vehicle Types to Register

EDIT....I'm going to correct myself....although a DMV person told me there is no longer any restrictions, and nothing shows on the NCDOT site above, it is still the law evidently...

§ 105-330.9. Antique automobiles.

(a) Definition. - For the purpose of this section, the term "antique automobile" means a motor vehicle that meets all of the following conditions:

(1) It is registered with the Division of Motor Vehicles and has an historic vehicle special license plate under G.S. 20-79.4.

(2) It is maintained primarily for use in exhibitions, club activities, parades, and other public interest functions.

(3) It is used only occasionally for other purposes.

(4) It is owned by an individual.

(5) It is used by the owner for a purpose other than the production of income and is not used in connection with a business.

(b) Classification. - Antique automobiles are designated a special class of property under Article V, Sec. 2(2) of the North Carolina Constitution and must be assessed for taxation in accordance with this section. An antique automobile must be assessed at the lower of its true value or five hundred dollars ($500.00). (1995, c 512, s 2; 2009-445, s. 24(a); 2013-414, s. 70(b).)

Chapter 105 - Article 22A

But "used only occasionally for other purposes" is your out.... or just keep a timing light on the seat beside you ....

Other public interest functions..... could argue that everytime you drive. People want to stop and look at it. Or get a club together at work and say that you are just going to a club gathering.

Yep, same here with the rules for an antique. They don't really specify ONLY for parades, weekend driving etc. but they do have a "limit" stated for annual mileage. Who's going to check? Beats me. But I'm in the same boat as you - the minute I did it, I'd be snagged.

Is that a hemp sweater?
You know how I roll! Actually, not even my picture. My pastor sent it in some kind of upbeat, motivational email, and I felt compelled to share it here in a different context

Is that shares as in one gets to occasionally drive it or shares as in a piece of paper that says you own a piece but don't get to do anything other than sell your shares later (or lose everything when they go bankrupt).

The latter could be incorporated into marriage and save a brutha quite a bit of money over the long haul

Nothing like these frigid NC winter's...

Or just not be a douche bag and park legally. I see cars with a boot on them almost daily in front of my office in downtown Asheville. I swear I’ve seen the same car with a boot on it 3 times in the last month or so.

What will hold water better, is house all your stuff in vehicles and lease them to yourself. They can’t take what you do not own, in a divorce.
