notice the non-existing o-ring on the old one:

also, turns out that the car was a '94 model instead of a '95 that I was told... (this means that it had a sealed opti instead of a vented one) After some searching on pirate and other boards, I found that to switch to the later opti was more of a pain than I was willing to deal with... so I chose a different route. A '94 opti with a vented '95 cap. (the vent is on the bottom of the cap) I sealed the cap to the opti with some "sensor safe" RTV(not sure if it mattered) and ran the vent to a vacuum port on the intake, hopefully this will help with keeping the moisture out.

'95 cap:

Heck yea dude. That is bling for sure. How long are those tailights going to last? :huggy:

are you Jamaican? Mrs. Cleo, is that you???
now, I expect it from some of these guys, but you??? :flipoff2:
you've been "working" on your buggy since before I met you..

ya I know. Rome wasn't built in a day (thanks dave)

Perfection takes time:flipoff2:

glad to see ya got the buggy just about wraped up.

first time out... I impress myself sometimes:huggy:

I had NO idea of what to expect from this thing.. with only a few quick laps around the yard... I loaded it up and went to DPG. It did better than I expected, but as with anything there are a few tweaks left to make.

-a few more PSI in the shocks(filled them when it was 65*, and no one sitting in it)
-bumpstops(ran out of time)
-a roof panel(ran out of time)
-a swaybar(ran out of money)
-a new radiator hose (rubbed a hole in it with the fan belt today)
-an expansion chamber for the CO2 for freezing weather(to activate the ARB)

here's a few pics from today:
