'81 Project Toy Full width Build up, Finally got it on the Trails....

Didnt get much done this weekend. Still mocking up the front suspension and the sub frame. I did get the heat shield complete and I'm waiting on some
fittings to finish the intake tube.

Bling bling..

Im sure I am missing something, but why add the subframe ? Looks like everything is currently tucked up in the frame rails.

Going from a radius 3 link to a 4 link in the front.
better suspension geometry
lower cog
better rear DS angle

The way i had it setup before made exhaust routing up into the floor. I had a channel cut out of the floor to route it through. Its so far up that removing the transmission is a major PITA. TO remove the rear DS you had to take the tunnel apart and do it from above. I'm hoping that lowering it will help with all that.

Down the road I'll do a frame buggy and move the motor down and back to get more uptravel.

With the new subframe, you are planning on lowering your driveline?

Am I understanding that correctly?

If not lowering the drivetrain, is the addition of a tubed-subframe and repositioning the links going to affect COG significantly enough to warrant all the work?

Looks good regardless.

Since John Sucks at posting pics and I was helping him yesterday I took pics and here ya go.

Front axle has been trussed, new front diff made and installed, all new lower and upper links made and mounted, front shocks hoops made, frame braced and front coilovers mounted.. he does need to finish weld a bunch but someone needs to keep this thread updated :)

I was getting to it.

The last couple weeks have been stressful as I have a big trip mid April that I have to get this ready for.

Celebrating getting that truss finished. I'll buy the next truss making one by hand is a complete PITA.

Update...

And i found dewalt XP flap discs. They are huge compared to the regular ones and they are only $1 more.
