Actually surprised by how many hits we got.
We broke the system.
Exceeded the maximum number of conversation participants.
So....I'll be doing this differently.
Details to come and evolving but in short here is the point of all this...
I cant tell you how many times I hear "I miss the friendships, camaraderie, BS, midget man love (no judging), etc of the ECORS days.
So I am in the very early planning stages for 2 events.
#1 will be a get together. cookout, bonfire, family friendly event that will not even necessarily be 4x4 related. Just to get the old gang together and have a good time.
Open to ideas and discussion here. Ive heard everything from a private go karts track rental day, to a large cookout and bonfire, UTV rentals, ropes course team building - to you name it. To be very clear. This isnt an "event" there isnt a "entry fee" ...there is no commercial enterprise involved. Just a get together of a bunch of old friends.
#2 The second event will be later. But it will be 4x4 centric though not a race. We have a local offroad park that has already agreed to host said event (details to come) this will involve some friendly competitions as well as some open wheeling nd riding opportunity. It will be open and accessible to all vehicle types. Think more "field games" than ECORS race. We ***may**** have a short course race as one of the mini competitions but again this will be about friendship and fellowship.... not about hardcore competition. NO tech inspections, beyond park safety rules. Again this is not a business venture, and there will not be competition entry fees. The park will charge normal (or possibly modified/reduced) entry fees to cover land usage and there may be some trophies given out, possibly swag type awards but no money, no points. Just a good time to be had among a group of friends that havent seen each other in way too long and allowing a platform for the testosterone to kick in and bragging rights to be established. Right now I think this event is likely a 2018 event. It will be planned far enough out that everyone has time to prepare and attend. It could possibly even be the "2nd annual" to #1 above.
To be clear, this will be under the heading of an ECORS reunion event and the primary focus will be the reuniting of the ECORS teams, fans, organizers, sponsors etc. However the East Coast Offroad Racing Series is NOT currently considering hosting a new calendar or schedule, though never is a lonnnnng time.
I'm a bit amazed. I told @rockcity if we got 25 responses Id do this. Never expected 100. Didn't think that was possible. I just wanted to organize something to see a bunch of old friends.
So stay tuned and feel free to toss out ideas or interest level in either or.
