What is your crawl ratio?

TH350 2.52
NP205 1.96
AXLE 5.38

Looks like I am at about 26.57

Now lets talk about power to weight ratios so I don't feel quite so inadequate :flipoff2:
Same ratio I had in the TJ buggy. Weighed in at 3900 with a 6.0.

Ax-15. 3.83
D300. 4.0
Axle. 5.38

39” reds with 4.7

82:1 crawl ratio. 1st is pointless and rarely gets used. I complete most obstacles in 2nd gear and the bad stuff in 3rd for wheel speed.

2nd gear 2.33
3rd gear 1.44

2nd gear crawl ratio 50:1
3rd gear 30:1

If I can’t get something at 30:1 I’m pulling rope.

You guys with autos should add a 2:1 when the torque converter is helping you crawl while back to 1:1 ish when the Rpm’s come up

Current 74.5 (on 36" TSL's and 37" Creepies)
NV4500 5.61
Np231 2.72
Akzuls 4.88

Previous 102.3 (on 38" SX's and 38.5" Creepies)
NV4500 5.61
D300 4.0
Akzuls 4.56

Previous Previous 69.58 (on 35" MT's and 36" Iroks)
NV4500 5.61
Np231 2.72
Akzuls 4.56

Tire size has a lot to do with it also. 70:1 was fine on 35's and lightweight 36's. Then went I went to heavy 38's it was worthless. 100:1 worked well on 38's. Sometimes it would have been a bonus to have, but I never needed deeper gears, but the internet wasn't as hard to wheel back then.

Nah, they should put a zero and multiply everything by that because the torque converter never locks and autos are for women who can't drive :flipoff2:

I need more HP and gears....

42"
AW4: 2.80
203: 1.96
205: 1.96
Axles: 5.38

57.85:1

I normally just run the 205 in low so: 29.53:1

Whooops, I think might is actually a lot higher

39's
3.95 1st gear
2.28 case 1
4.7 case 2
5.29 axles

so 223.9 in low low (aka use 3rd or 4th gear)

98 is high front case, low 2nd case.

Haha I'm the same weight, my 6.0 has been microwaved (warmed up a little). The setup works fine for mah style.
Mine felt really good I thought. Especially when I had the 6.0 wound to about 5k in 2nd bombing up a hill. :D

MUA5 - 3.77
Case - 3.07
Diff - 5.38
Crawl - 62:1
On 35's it's not quite low enough. Definitely not low enough when I had it on 37's. Might would be fine with a diesel or something with a shitload of off idle torque, but a v6 and weighing probably 4500-5000lb it will stall trying to idle through bigger rocky sections. 3-footin it sucks. I need a doubler or an auto.

My wife gets all the best stuff;

Her 06 Rubi

NSG370 4.46
241OR 4.0
Axles 5.13
Crawl 91.52

Meanwhile my 99 TJ Crawler
AX15 3.83
Atlas II 5.0
Axles 4.1
Crawl 78.52

My Daily Driver Renegade Trailhawk for a laugh;

9 Speed Automatic First 4.7
PTU (Not really a transfer case) 1
Axles 4.34
Crawl 20.40

From the factory
SM420: 7.05
Axle: 4.57
Crawl: 32.21

Now
T5: 3.35
Axle: 4.57
Crawl:15.30

:D
B7306F75-45CC-46B1-B569-DA9EF12FEF86.jpeg

68.8
SM 420 7.05
Dana 20 2
4:88

But it's plenty low, actually 1st and second are great. Third is a reach with the 4.3

I wonder if there is a better figure we can baseline from? Like how my crawl ratio isn't great but I try to keep my rig light weight because I know it will work better if I do and keeping it light helps keep parts alive too. Or how horsepower can make up for the lack of gears or weight.

Stuck, I mean stock, xj on 235/75-15 (yj will be the same except probably going to 4.10/4.56 gears in axles & 32-33 tires, if I ever get to finish it)

AW4: 2.80 (42re is 2.74)
231: 2.72

Axle options:
With 3.55: 27
With 3.73: 28.4
With 4.10: 31.22
With 4.56: 34.72

51.7

TH350 2.52
D300 4.0
Axle 5.13

My crawl ratio sucks, but a screaming LS1 and a heavy right foot solves that problem.
I like your answer! Mine is pretty horrible compared to some here, I guess...

TH350 2.52
D300 2.62
Axle 4.56

= 30.1..... But a healthy SBC402 and a lead boot solves my problems too. (when I actually have it running )
Usually 18:3.
More than 18 beers in less than 3 hours usually equals crawling for me.
If I was younger and it dustier...then those numbers could double or more...
You beat me to it, sir! But I was going to say a ratio of how many nights per week/month I crawl to the bathroom to heave my guts up? Hm....this would take some thought... (only kidding!)

On 37’s
4L60E - 3.06
Atlas II - 4.3
Diff - 4.56
Crawl - 60:1

Current:
42RLE 1st: 2.81
NP231: 2.72
The Dana's: 4.88
Crawl Ratio: 37.56 (With TQ Factor of 1.5:1 = 56.34)

Hopefully soon to be setup:
NV3550: 4.01
NP231: 2.72
The Dana's: 4.88
Crawl Ratio: 53.03 (If I can fit it, I'm thinking of adding NWF EcoBox which would make it 144.25 in 1st and 83.81 in 2nd)
