We got almost all of the cabinet hardware back on and hung tonight. We realized we didn’t have near enough hinges, but then we found them and remembered we bagged tha bedroom hinges separately. So I had to paint them and let them dry till tomorrow.

We ran out of backsplash cause we intended to use that in the bathroom but the wife changed her mind and wanted it in the kitchen. I really dig the black hardware. Not only cause it saved me money, I just think it looks great. I couldn’t find small black screws at my low cal hardware store (where I’ve been every day for over a week straight) so I took all the original tiny screws and stuck them in cardboard to paint those as well. It was worth it cause the brass colored screws stuck out like crazy.

Most of the medium duty trucks are absolute dogs when compared to modern or semi modern 1 ton diesels. Find one with a mechanical DT466 and throw the fuel to it

X2 ecept drop the medium duty thing all together. They are the worst of both worlds and painfully slow.

I'm just going to leave this here.....

God that's badass.
I see stuff like this and it reminds me of when I still lived in Iowa was little; going to the races to watch my dad and going back into the pits to see everything from pick up trucks with open deck trailers, one ton CCLB duallies pulling big tri-axle enclosed trailers; there was a hollowed out bus, and big tractor trailer stackers.

I regret following this thread now. It's gone from me pricing out lumber and renovation supplies to looking at Peterbilts and stacker trailers.

Speaking of... @YotaOnRocks have you done any more on that Pete?

Kitchen is coming along nicely, painted the stove door but it’s still drying. Bout to do the backsplash in the bathroom now. All the cabinets are hung.

And I sold my Crawler Hauler today. Was kinda sad to see it go.

Man oh man. Midnight and I’m just now turning in from working on the camper. I am so excited to see this thing come together. My wife has worked incredibly hard on this thing as well. She picked all the colors and stuff and has been right there beside me, many times by herself while I’m at work, just grinding away. We are like 80% done.

We still have to install the microwave we are painting black and covering with contact paper. New kitchen sink faucet with detachable hose. It’s black.
Finish “tile” backsplash in the bathroom.
Paint two walls in the bedroom.
Contact paper the walls in the bunk house (1/2 way done)
Contact paper the shower, contact paper the table top.
Trim on the ceiling.
TV corner with be pallet boards painted by my kids.
Contact paper corner counter too which will be a coffee bar.
Wall mount TV
Install new sink/faucet in bathroom

Other things I’m forgetting.

And finally, install flooring. Which I don’t look forward to but I’ll get it done.

Wife got new covers for the seat cushions.

We have a bird living in our garage. She made a nest right on my door motor. She’s not happy about all that’s going on. I opened the window so she could come and go when the door is shut.

I was fully prepared to get this. We discussed it and I had wife approval and everything. I am gonna be in Tampa for work on Wednesday till next weekend, I had figured on renting a car from Tampa to Miami on Saturday morning and just drive it home. But it sold. I was pretty bummed.

I’ve got my eye on another one but it’ll have to wait till I get back from Florida. If it don’t work out I reckon is wasn’t meant to be.

Post some pics in here since we talking about tow rigs anyway, I don’t mind.

Small peak at it. I am thinking about starting a "shop" thread or just carrying on with my "shop build" thread.

Since the microwave had turned yellow, and a new one was $150+ we decided we’d try to just paint it instead of contact paper.

We have a Duramax 5500 bucket truck at work, and it's a dog. It weighs about 19k rolling. A tune might bring it to life, though.

I have found that getting someone to work on it, is a pita. Most HD shops or regular mechanics don't want to work on them. They also used a mix of truck and van parts to put them together.

I'd buy one of the price was right, but I'd much rather get an International or HD truck. I'd also look at engines that can be overhauled in the chassis, if you're planning to keep it for a while.

The counter edges had this ugly stuff glued on that we hated and didn’t want to paint. So I stuffed spackling in and sanded it back down smooth. I didn’t get pics after sanding.

I am removing the kitchen sink to do the counter top, then I’ll reinstall with a new faucet and fresh caulk around the edge.

I took a break yesterday and washed my toy and took it for its first drive in many years. Still need to do a little more work to make it run right.

I’m tired like I can’t explain. Work has me wide open. In fact I closed the largest deal of my entire career this morning. My daughter plays soccer and basketball and my son plays soccer as well, and goes to therapy twice a week.
It’s been hard to do all of this with life busy like it is. But we’ve enjoyed it. I’ve learned my wife is not very picky, which is great. But she also can’t run a drill or impact but in one speed, which is full send!
I think we hit this project so hard cause we knew if we didn’t get on it right away, it would turn into one of those things we intended to do but just never got to. Now that we are nearing the end, it’s all time consuming details much like building a crawler. I’m losing steam and really burnt out on my garage and house looking like we’ve been ransacked but it’s almost over and I will push thru.

More pic heavy stuff to come soon!

Keep at it man. I know it can get rough and its easy to get burned out, especially with therapy and everything else going on. Itll be worth it when its done.

Is that a 79 F150 Ranger Lariat? Also you guys are doing great on that Camper. Way to stay in it.

It’s a 78 F100 Ranger XLT. I don’t think they had a Lariat back then, but this would be the equal to it (I could be wrong as I know Chevys better) but it has everything. AC, all the trim, 460 big block with a C6. The AC compressor actually kicks on when you switch it to AC, it’s not cold but it is all there and complete. 4 matching Crager SS wheels with center caps.
It ran good for a few minutes yesterday, man what a torque monster! I need to replace the fuel filters and possibly the gas tank, which it came with so I’m guessing there’s trash in the tank.

Lariat was a package in 79. I learned to drive on a 79 F150 Ranger Lariat long bed Supercab. Had the 351 Windosor but was only 2wd. Black and silver.
