Corbeau reclining seat problem

I bought a set of Corbeau Moab reclining seats quite a few years ago. Aside from the normal comments about fit and finish, I'm satisfied with these seats. My problem is the frame on the back is weak and has sprained back due to what I would call moderate use (some might call it extreme but I say moderate) I currently have a ratchet strap cinched up between my vertical roll bar legs to hold the back forward enuf to be in a normal position. I finally realized that the recliner mechanism is only on one side and the opposite side is just a hinge point. Thereby putting all the load on one "weak" piece of steel.

What I wonder is , could I tear into the seat and add some kind of suitable reinforcement or not. Has anybody else had this problem or am I "the first one to ever have it?" Should I just bite the bullet and find new seats?

Responses please!
