Wide widths and permits

Well, Im thinking of upgrading in size on the boat. I know the max width is 8.5 without permits but cant find anything anywhere about what I'll need for a trailered boat thats 9.5-10ft wide @ 28-32ft long. Im assuming there is special permits involved, but will I need a permit for each state traveled through? Anybody know where I can find this info? Thanks SB
 
i pulled a 42' boat from maryland to NC without any special permits..... never got pulled over so maybe i got lucky but i've never heard any of my friends with larger boats speak of a special permit to transport it from the water back to the house.....
