What have you done to your rig today?

Thanks to the help of @GotWood, installed my 4.7 stroker this past weekend.

I filled it with IPA so it would run better..

I have a locked d35 from a 95 xj.. I did some looking and found it can be swapped into a d30.. once I do my cylinder head/rings/bearings I may swap it into my front axle.

Last night I shattered my dried out plastic coolant reserve tank on my Wrangler topping off the fluids... but replaced my Alternator on my Cherokee.

So I'm batting 50% right now for repairs.

New transmission mount, hack n tap for the 242, and new rear driveshaft for the xj.

I swear it was the first time in my life that I didnt break a single thing while working on a vehicle. I'm sure the driveshaft will fall out tomorrow because of that......

Are you gonna fix that pinion angle?

Getting closer. Still on track to pull the old 390 this weekend to make room for the 445 stroker. This is for my Fairlane.

So I finally took the time to figure out what god awful racket the Jeep started to make on the way back to the trailer. Turns out the centering ball took it's last breath. Trip to Oliver's today to get the parts to fix this one and ordered a new rear driveshaft so I'll have the current as a spare.

Burnt up with grease.

Gave my f150 a new smile and another eyeball. Looks like her eyes have jaundice in this picture.. they project decently down the road. It tows way way better than my xj, not that it has more power (4.2) but the longer wheel base & bigger brakes make the ride more comfy I guess. Had to weld the brackets back on to the frame for the bumper.. Still trying to get the hang of mig welding.. getting used to fcaw on my HF special and the handler 140 is nearly entirely different on settings and all, just about like learning all over again..

Figured out the shudder I had in 2nd and 3rd gear. Wore out rear u-joint. The needle bearings were totally gone on the misshapen one. Took forever to get it out, had to use the cutoff wheel. I think they were original due to how rusted they were in there. New one ready to go in.

Bought a new rig yesterday. After my daily driver 1997 Cherokee failed me for the last time on the cusp of 200,000 miles, my wife insisted I give in and go buy truck.... and not a sissy little truck. But something big and manly.

So, yesterday I drove to Asheville to look at a sweet red, lifted, 2008 F250 Super Duty, silly goons listed it as Gas instead of Diesel so I passed. (But I still test drove it, it was a beast.)

Since I was already there, a buddy had suggested another place for me to check out, on my way there I passed Debruhl's and saw a row of big trucks. Checked them out and found a lifted 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 5.7L Hemi and 130,000 miles that wanted to come home with me.

After some negotiation, I got them to throw in a new set of 35's(their pick though, so it will be something dirt cheap with a 10k mile life span probably), and dropped the price because the tach didn't work. (after thirty seconds on google I found out how to fix that for free.)

Thing's a beast and rides terrific, someone dumped a lot of money into it. I'm thrilled to not have to do the work/investment myself for lift and tires for once. Power is fantastic, gas mileage is terrible. Luckily, I only put 3,000 miles a year on my rigs. So... even with the 12.5mpg... this will be fun.

(On the plus side, I can finally cancel my garbage pickup and save $20 a month. I think I'm going to need that for gas money.)

Me and @Atla bolted on my toob fenders A few weeks ago that I picked up from jankoid on here. Had fun fighting a hood alignment issue due to a wreck in its former life but we managed to get them on good enough to get me back home . I did some body mount modification and some ratchet strap body work to get it a bit better before a URE trip.. I'll get around to matching body/fender paint eventually.

Stupid bolt broke off changing the water pump after I had torqued the new head down. Just got around to pulling the cover today to extract the broken SOB. Luckily it had seized to the locating pin the bolt went through and had plenty of meat sticking out to grab hold of.

I wasn't planning on having to dive in this deep or I would have pressure washed all the dang mud the PO was nice enough to cake everything in.

Anytime anything is nasty, it's about always worth the time to wash it before getting into it. Learned that many times over. I despise a dirty/grimy engine bay/undercarriage.

That water pump looks way large on that motor. I know that's how it's supposed to be, but still, it looks Huge. Bet you they one in my Ford 4.2 is smaller physically.
