yeah actually I am the same guy just to clarify that point, I was also on second hand information. This is exactly what happened in the case that follows. As far as oliver's goes, his work is good, you need to be specific, he does not understand the whole concept of 4wd as far as I could tell being he said a shaft he did after I specifically asked repeatedly for a DC CV style joint and that the ball type cv joint that i already had was not working etc....(this was obvious after it blew up once) I also asked for a sye kit which he said I did not need. The rear driveshaft he built seemed to be fine for awhile. It ended up causing t-case problems. The front one with u joint on one end and a ball type cv on the other went out after 1 trip just as I predicted. I went back and he was very nice about it saying he thought it would work etc and he gave me a good price on a new one that he put u joints on both ends. He drove it and said it was smooth. No sooner than I picked it up and was on highway 52 it was vibrating bad enough that I had to take it out. I called him and told him the situation. He was willing to give me a deal on it again but I was tired of it so I just called Andy at CRS and he took care of me. What he did was right the first time with no question and was exactly what I had asked for in the first place. I would like that when I ask for something if someone is unable to do it that they not say they will make something that will work but that they don't know how to do it. I wasted over 700$ at Oliver's. The only thing that was reused from his work was part of the front shaft's tubing.
Like I said if you are specific, his work is clean and welds are good and the prices are very reasonable when it is done right, but his shop does heavy trucks and machinery mostly, it is NOT a 4wd shop. I hope this clears up anything that may have been in question. The only backpedaling I would do on Oliver's is not going there in the first place and saving $700 and alot of wasted time and gas going back and forth.
