How much truck to haul a TJ and XJ?

I linked to the KBB value on the truck and it said $24,500.

I agree the trade in thing is killing me. I've tried, albeit not very hard, to sell the Charger. It has about $2000 of extra value (from tuner, lowering, dyno) when sold to a person and not a dealership. However, nobody is interested.

I'm not defending this truck, and appreciate everyone's opinions. I don't know anything about diesels, so I'm relying on the interwebs for information.

Edit: I'm going to pass on this one as well. Too many miles for my taste. Time to get the Charger detailed and pay some money to put it on ebay and what not.

Here ya go...

FWIW... I think you're making a mistake by thinking anything adds value to the vehicle. It's only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. The fact you're not getting any bites suggests it's not worth what you're asking.

Thanks for the link, but it's not Ford, it's a dually and well outside of the price range I am looking at.

The problem isn't the value of the trade in, as I've had five dealers offer more than I owe on it. The problem is that I'm looking for a truck that doesn't exist at the price range I need.

If you're looking to tow a 34ft gooseneck, don't dismiss a dually so quickly. You'll remember that when you're beating the bedside back into shape and changing a rear tire. ;)

That Dodge will tow better than the 7.3 you were looking at, and turn tighter, too.

I've got to unload this Charger before I can do any private party purchases. Once I get rid of the Charger, what I can purchase completely changes because I don't have to buy from a dealer anymore.

At this point, I'm considering moving to a Suburban and only towing one Jeep. I've been able to find some nice Suburbans for under $5,000. Since I will only be using it to tow 10 times a year, and not daily driving, it doesn't have to be perfect.

I just picked up an 04 XLT 350 4 door 4wd yesterday with 192k on the odo
Receipts for every known 6.0 problem being fixed in the last 6 months.

Needs to be cleaned up but I would sell it to ya for 14-15k...I've got tons of pics but all are way too big to go on here...

loki_racer...you could always sell your car to carmax...they give a fair market value for it and they give you a check on the spot...just a thought.
