I started working on getting my bronco ready for the much needed lift today. So I can run these.

Started out by removing the rear axle.

Then I ground off the old shock mounts since I will be switching to an inboard mount.

Had to remove the exhaust to make room for the inboard shock mount.

New heavy duty shackles and larger bolts with grease fittings to keep things lubed up.

nice.. i can not wait to see it lifted with new meats on it

while you have the rear axle out you should add a summit rear axle brace to the housing :)

rear springs

These were the hands down most flexing springs I could find when I researched different brands. I have seen pictures and reviews on how soft they are. Let's hope I have the same results.

More Progress

Started to fab up the truss today. Decided to use 2x6 3/16 wall (BEEF)

Since the front factory shock mounts offer very limited travel I am swapping them out with the F250 mounts.

I found this was the easiest way to remove the old towers

gone for good

This is what it looked like behind the mount not bad at all

ai110.photobucket.com_albums_n113_Earlybronco_Lift_20Install_IMG_1930.jpg

All cleaned up for the new towers to be installed

ai110.photobucket.com_albums_n113_Earlybronco_Lift_20Install_IMG_1923.jpg

But, it would not be a buildup unless the towers were modified

the mounts will weld right up with out this modification but, I wanted to have them tuck up as close to the inner fender as possible. This will also keep the shock straighted in its range of motion thus eliminating and bind it may cause.

once they are cut a little magic with the welder

Back to the rear

My summit axle truss can in and after a 20 minute conversation with the FedEx guy about broncos I was on my way

yea man

Yea in the middle of it all I also managed to smoke 85 racks or ribs and 70 lb of chicken. Staying awake for 39 hours and counting gets a lot of progress under the belt.

Time for a Shave today

Well the 9 inch had grown a 5:00 so it needed a little trim today.

I wanted to use the bottom of the housing as a skid so BEEF was necessary.
