D80 Pinion Seal

So I already invaded Dave’s thread so I’m stuck with the wife’s truck. Driveshaft off and pinion but we’re no issue but I CANNOT get the yoke off. Applied some heat and have a 4 jaw puller and put some stank on it with the 1/2” gun. Used a brass hammer to “shock” the yoke and it goes no where??!! Am I missing something or am I gonna drop it off to someone and let them deal with it. Already took off work so I get after it without it being dark. I’m frustrated!

Ditch the brass
Beat the yoke off with a good sized hammer. You gotta shock the splines loose from each other. You're not gonna hurt a thing.

Absolutely zero issues brother... we'll ALL benefit!

Thinking I may be your first (Dave destroys anvil with feather dusher 🤣)

Well fawk... ashamed to admit this, BUT do not have a 12pt. 12mm in a 1/2" flavor to bust the flange bolts 🤫

Edit: don't have a 1 7/8" (48mm) for the pinion nut either 🤬

Tried with 3/8" breaker bar and wasn't having any it , so will grab one later and hit it ain't tomorrow... sigh

Well... armed with the correct socket, got the flange bolts out. A couple whacks with BFB(rass)H, the flange came off the "yoke".

Prior to yanking the yoke, found about 0.0400" of in/out slop and about the same amount of radial slop.

The ancient IR2131 backed by 160psi, took a little chowdering, but eventually spun the pinion nut off. Tried BFBH on the yoke, but was having none of it, so employed my late Dad's monster Blackhawk 2 jaw puller... basically came right off with a 12" crescent and zero squints/grunts (no chance it could've warp the yoke flange).

Now, the yoke is grooved, about 0.0040", with a "feel able" step... kinda tapered from outer to inner end, but fairly smooth.

There was a fair amount trash that looks like seal slivers?

What say you @Jody Treadway ??
- New seal and send it?
- Speedi sleeve + new seal?
- New yoke or it never seal?
- Gots more issues than a leaking seal?
