Can anyone recommend a quality shop to rebuild or swap a reman into my 1984 CJ-7 with a 258 inline 6. It runs well for a 95,000-mile motor, but is slinging enough oil that the headers smoke on any drive long enough to bring the motor up to temperature. It has a Weber carburetor.
I am in Chapel Hill, and am willing to drive to any shop within an hour or so.
I have around two grand that I'm allowed to spend.
I'm new to this four-wheeling community, so I really appreciate this forum.
Many thanks,
Richard Myers

I 2nd Bill at 44 Mag Off Road. Bill is the goto guy when it comes to CJ's. He has several and has done a ton of work on them. He's done some work for me on my dearly-departed waggy and is a very fair and honest businessman.

Bill is getting all the votes today. Straight up (old) 86 out of Chapel Hill right into Danville, right at an hour drive time from Calavander. If you are afraid the ol' CJ won't make it. Get up with me. We'll pitch it up on a trailer and go for a ride. Always good to visit with Bill and 44 Magnum Off Road.

I agree! Bill does Quality work! If My Mother Drove a Jeep... well never mind...Bill Does great work!!! and hes pretty good on YJ's also!
