can't erase a fat fingered smiley

Trying to send a pm and I inserted a grinning smiley, cause it's a happy message..but I ended up fat fingering the mean,red,ugly faced, middle finger smiley.

I am using my phone, and it won't let me delete the bad smiley. So now I can't send this pm.

What to do?

Ha..but can you erase smileys in a private message?
I wrote a nice,positive pm..and right at the end, there's this big red middle finger, not the nice middle finger smiley guy, but the ugly one.

Yes..I just tried to delete these, backspace just skips right over them.
