They say the 3rd time is a charm…even though I always ask who “they" really are!!! This will be the third time this YJ has been built and the second time I have owned it…

Quick history: I bought the Jeep with 64k miles on it and drove it for a year before it went soa, 35s, 30/44 combo with 4.56s and a rear ox locker. Later, I bought a set of tons and sold the existing axle combo/tire combo. However, due to a bad car accident in 2002, I didn’t wheel or work for over a year and the Jeep just sat in the garage on jack stands untouched. After I recovered, I went back to school and sold everything I had to pay for it. The Jeep went to Brandon (336WHEELER) and I went to school. He then built it on tons and 39s and did a few other things to it before he decided to go back to school as well. I graduate and bought the Jeep back just as I had sold to him…no axles/ wheels/ or tires!

So, it begins….The 3XYJ.

Specs:
4.0L w/ 86k miles stock
92 aw4 with Raddesigns step back shifter and baja shifter for manual valve body characteristics
D300 twin sticked (stock for now)
D60 front with 5.13s, Lockrite, OTT arms, and 35 spline shafts throughout
14blt rear, 5.13s, disc, welded, shaved.
42x14x17 Iroks (for now) on 17 rock-a thons
Warn 9000xdi
Front Suspension: Spring under with Isuzu trooper leafs and custom sliders. The rear is yet to be determined but will be leafs as well; Just unsure of the setup.
Misc: Flat belly with full skid, Full cage, rockers, corners, RCI fuel cell, etc…
The goal is to be one of the lowest full-framed YJs on leaf springs and 42s around. I know SUA is not even close to the “in thing” but this is going to be my weekend riding, camping, I drink a lot of beer…rig!

As it set in my garage before it was sold...

I will try to keep this updated! More pics to come.

Heard that. SUA + tons + 42s = ultra badass.

I'll be watching this one close!

You supply the beer, food, and strippers and I will come down there and help!

Cool build... I started a build like this a while back but it never got done. The steering might be kind of tricky but I'm sure it can be done.

Mine was soa on the front and sua on the rear. And there was not much room for high steer or any steering linkage lol.

We have it figured that the steering is going to be the easiest part. I shouldnt have to move my stock steering box and I will hopefully be able to run my tie rod in the stock location and all of it should be protected by the springs. I will have about 1.5" of clearance between the axle and the pitman arm..just hope I can squeeze hydro assist in there!

check out the white trash build and the bass boat build...both are as low or lower than the jeep you posted and everything packaged well!

Looking forward to this taking shape :huggy:

im not a Jeep guy, but this is gonna be nasty. let me kno when you wana sell that tie rod my buddy needs one..

Fawesome. My Samurai is spring under with YJ springs. It is super stable and low. The only thing I don't like about it is the shackles and spring hangers hitting on stuff. That thing is going to sidehill like its got 500 lbs of leadshot in each tire!

Shackles hanging down wont be an issue...Scott and Mudpro is building me some custom spring sliders for the front!

Sweet. My front shackles are the only thing I'm not the biggest fan of in my suspension.... but I think If I ran a slider I would have zero lift in the front. It would be easier to clear a bigger tire if my axles were wider than a D30 with 1.25" spacers, haha.

Cool deal are you going to run your drag link off your tie rod or have a seperate drag link off of the steering arm on top of the knuckle?

good call on the amount of housing removal. i'll be at mudpro's tommarrow, maybe I can pry a sneek peek at the sliders or are they in the engineering stages?
