6.7 Powerstroke CEL P132A

Got another CEL today. Flew in from out west and picked my truck up from a buddies shop.
He was just resealing the vacuum pump for me while I was on vacation. Anyways,
It’s code P132A see pic below.

any ideas on where to start looking?

iIt’s a 2013 truck with a ‘15 up turbo kit on it. Usually builds boost pretty quick but now it struggles... Very low power at low RPM and too much smoke throughout RPM’s.
 
Check the wiring harness near the #1 injector on the passenger front of the engine. There is an issue with the AC line chafing the wiring harness there. That harness goes to the VGT solenoid on the turbo. From what I remember, it is under the fuel rail cover.

Sounds like he disconnected something in the turbo controls and forgot to plug it back in. Id triple check every connector.

Also look for pushed back pins in the connectors.

No wires worn out that I can see. One wire disconnected but I don’t know if that was from the turbo upgrade or from me removing the EGR cooler...

That plug looks like the VGT solenoid plug. If it is, that's your problem. Theres definitely not an EGR plug shaped like that.

Yeah it’s the VGT plug but I have to take the intake manifold off to get to it. I tried to get to it without that, but it’s just too hard to get to.
The ears broke off the plug so I need to splice a new plug in.

EDIT: Spoke to soon. Got it plugged in for now. I’ll get it replaced if it happens again soon.

Yeah I’m a dingus. Shouldn’t have paid a shop to swap turbos... they put a broken plug back in I assume.
At least it was an easy fix. :rockon:
 
Can you get a zip tie around the connectors to hold them together?

I probably could if I could see the plug. I can’t even get my phone in there to take a picture of it.
 
A small dab of silicone rtv on the side of the plug will glue it together once it sets up, just a small dab, so it can be pried back apart with a screwdriver in the future. A big glib will be a permanent repair lol!

Edit: put it at the top on the weather seal and not actually down inside the plug.
 
Spray it with plasti-dip or bedliner. Its a dumb idea, but it might just work.
 
If you do end up splicing a plug on it, they make one with a metal clip that flips over the ears that catch the original plug. Its a much better design that doesn't break when you take it off.
