Bronco Reveal

In its factory form or even near that, keep dreaming.

I wasnt talking about 20k of upgrades, what it is , is weak ass ifs.
and who exactly is taking a stock SFA on those races either?

You can bet your ass once these hit the market there's going to be all kinds of stock vs stock comparisons.
Modern day IFS on vehicles like this are light years better than the 80s Toy IFS most people think of.

Meanwhile @Chris_Keziah was breaking much newer IFS components on HIS Toy

Actually I only ever broke one CV, and during the time I wheeled I never serviced the suspension itself. Only thing that was replaced due to wear was the steering rack bushings. I did the ball joints prior to wheeling because they were prone to failure in those models.

As some one who has wheeled the dog shit out of an ifs rig I honestly think in the hands of a semi talented driver they'll surprise some people. With that said I'd love to SAS on of these Bronco's.

Its also funny how old is new again...vinyl seats and vinyl floors are an UPGRADE (read cost more) than heated cloth seats and carpeted floor....its like the 60s all over again

It's been that way for a while. A lot of "leather" interiors are actually "leather trim", which are mostly vinyl, especially on the sides/back of the front seats and in the back rows.

Just going to leave this here

The ultra4 reference to a comparison is the dumbest ever. Most the u4 ifs rigs run an offset or rear mounted engine so they can have equal length a-arms. Cycle 18+ inches but, they arent cast factory lower control arms. Curious to know what front diff they used. I’m sorry I can’t even take people serious that are referring to some bad ass IFS setup trying to compare it to some production shit. Mainly Bc I know raptor owners that replace all that shit when they started going hard in it.

Loren Healy/Von Gittin Jr have that RTR Ranger, same platform, that was on 40s in Moab. It’s got a shit ton of money in it and pulls 15” of travel up front and 18” out back. And it’s not a triangulated 4 link rear.

I think it looks good and has some cool ass features. However, I can’t wait to see the first cocky ass bronco owner try a line some a JL or gladiator owner takes and it flops hard on its side. We all know it’s gonna happen. I enjoy seeing it FJ guys struggling hard on trails a stock rubi laughs at now add more wheelbase. But won’t kill the side windows.

Link to ranger mentioned above, it’s pretty bad ass. 2020 Ford Ranger RTR Fun-Runner | DrivingLine

Because stock Dana 30s hold up so well?
Lets wait and see what Ford puts out in their special performance package before we compare maybe?

I mean there are some crappy factory SFA setups...thats why everyone upgrades them. I'm willing to bet if the demand is there - ie they dont hold up - then the aftermarket will support beefed up IFS setups for the bronco.
And if Im paying $40k+ for a new vehicle, Id appreciate the ride quality of a IFS set up the 90% of the time the 4 wheels are on solid surface

I might need to look into selling the LJR for an upgrade.

Just kidding guys!!!

I’m pretty sure you’re aware the beating the u4 cars take trying to keep up with the solid axle cars in the rocks, but let’s keep ignoring that they are lucky to finish because of that. They won’t take the same lines, but when a front wheel is a bump that diff isn’t ready to be slammed into a rock on IFS, It’s not like dragging a d30 SFA over it.

Now you say wait till their SVT shit comes out. Dude who gives a fuck it’s got a compound low range, lockers, and 35s? If it doesn’t walk past it in the rocks then what’s gonna be the excuse then? It needs more horse power to plow the front into the rocks harder to make the same climb his buddy on 35s in a two door Wrangler rubicon is laughing at him not able to make?

Friend of mine I’ve bolted on parts/full suspensions for a few FJs he’s owned. Hates wheeling them because they are sketch as fuck with huge blind spots. The Bronco doesn’t have leafs out back like a Tacoma, that rear link suspension is gonna be working it’s ass off to make up for the front not flexing like the rear does. Even taking the front sway bar off, it will pitch the rear side to side. I’m using that as my let’s see what these bronco can prove wrong; But it’s similar and preformed, mehh.

SFA vs IFS what evez, Jeep has had what 20years or more to get the steering to work properly and not have death wobble or loose/drift feeling, and yet the JL forum is full of owners complaining the there Jeep has all of those things. The New Bronco has got to make Jeep realise they need to step up there game. Yes, a Jeep is a very capable off road vehicle but to and from the trail is as important of not more then on the trail.

Does no one else think it looks more like a scout than a bronco? Side profile is uncanny.

I think it looks like a Land Rover. The COO at my job has a black one and it looks like the same body style and especially with the bronco grill that has the composite style/ non round lights

....

And that's the thing..all this dick measuring, armchair quarterbacking and shit talk, and ain't a damn one of us gonna un-ass the money for NEITHER a new JL nor a new bronco...so it's internet spec sheet racing until one of y'all cheap fuggers goes and buys one...one THEN you're gonna be too skert to scratch it for 2 years or better

Do you want to see the receipt from the $100 deposit I placed today?

So not to get too far off topic, but how are those eco-boost motors on longevity? I know for fact once Mercedes started putting turbos on everything their longevity sucked in comparison to previous engine designs. It seems also the smaller the engine, with boost thrown at it, suffers worse than the larger displacement ones. Do you get 250-300k out of one without throwing a huge amount of $$$$ at it?

we have 10 in our fleet, we have several with over 200,000 miles, only thing we have had to do so far is put some coil packs on

All I see is a Jeep Compass when I glance at the pics.

For what its worth....

From the specs I have read on available options for the (real, not sport) bronco I am very impressed.

35s, front and rear lockers, granny gear straight drive, sway bar disconnects, steel bumpers, 4.70 ring and pinion. I think it's a win for what we like to do as a hobby.

For all the people who are bashing it, when was the last time a major car manufacturer released a completely new vehicle that has as much off road ability as this?

I do expect to see alot of the broncos on the trails in the next few years, in situations that the drivers allowed the capability of the truck to get them in a situation they have no business in being in. Alot like 4 door rubicons now days.....

I think this platform could push the Jeep toward IFS on the Wranglers.

I also hope they sell a ton of them.....maybe I could own a used one in my retirement.

I'm actually very excited about Ford finally coming thru and not completely trying to force some space aged, free thinking abstract. I was afraid of the whole reinvent senerio. I was gonna barf if it shared anything with the Explorers or F series to heavily.

With GM releasing a fwd blazer that looks like a Mazda 5 and the tag line "it's my new sexy mom vehicle"......are we really going to complain about IFS?

The buzz is the sasquatch package could cost $3k-$5.5k......tack that on to a base bronco with a stick shift and I think it is a win!

FWIW, I think the wrangler has been leaning towards IFS for a while, and I suspect the next generation will have it......I wonder if the rubicon will come with an optional solid axle when that happens?

My neighbor has a deposit on a cybertruck

When I'm standing in front of it is when I'll eat the crow. Same with you :huggy:
