Anyone know if there's anywhere to throw up a tent on the water with direct access to the trails? We've never been before & would like to take our 8 year old fishing & riding (we'd have 3 quads). Easy trails for the kiddo? Should we bring his dirtbike too? Thanks!

Tuned in because I don't know if any.

Maybe not anything other than hiking. And I'm not sure that camping water front is permitted.

Only thing I know of is badin lake campground directly on lake, Arrowhead cg is a 1/4 Mike walk to water. Both closed for now due to the virus. Neither have direct trail access, you'll have to tow quads to trails a mile or two on gravel road.

There are several trails with Creek crossings not good for fishing though. Also the uwharrie river passes by the Daniel trailhead and you can primitive camp near it. Still not directly on trails. And Daniel is a tough trail from that end on quads, there's a few steep ledges.

I wouldn't bring an 8yo on a dirt bike either. Even if he's a really good rider other people aren't always the best drivers...

Man, years ago we were headed to Kodiak rock from the big parking lot. I was leading our group as usual seeing as I'm the only one in the group with a sense of direction. Anyway I'm trucking along in my 78 f150 trail plug and this like 5 or 6 year old comes barreling around a turn on the smallest dirt bike I've ever seen. I slammed on brakes and he just narrowly skidded by me. No adult in sight. I was on the cb with the group, we were all like what the hell. Probably a 1/4 mile later I come across a dude struggling to push a regular bike with a tacoshells shaped front wheel and an obviously broke arm. We loaded dudes bike in my truck, it had a flat bed back then, turned around and drove him to his truck, helped him load both bikes and he left I assume to go to the hospital. I was surprised he wasn't in shock honestly.

Your post just made me think of that, lol

Horsepower Park fixing to open, they have trail runs right to big river with Sandy Beach for tents and lots of trails to ride on, little swampy but my wife drove through on 4wheeler. Should go check it out. I think they're opening this weekend for camping and trails
