Dang

I heard about that earlier...

I hadn't eaten there in years. The que was on and off and soo were the waitresses. I loved getting the chicken BBQ sauce and rapping up chicken livers and french fries in it.
Wilbur Shirley was also a card carrying member of the Bill and Hillary party.

Heard they'd gone downhill, and that the 70 bypass put a big dent in their business. Still sucks they're closed. :(

The DOR got a restaurant in my hometown too. Seems they had gone a number of years without paying taxes.

I remember our family stopping to eat there in the 70s on our way to or from Salter Path or Harkers Island,Smyrna,Davis etc. every summer. I went to Wayne CC, lived there in 84 and back then the place was still awesome, went there about every other week, their breakfast was good to. Whenever I went by there going to the beach(before the bypass) I would stop and get the quart of BBQ/pint of slaw deal to take to the beach. After fishin/swimin burning up in the sun/sand all morning, chilling in the ac in the afternoon w a cold bbq/slaw on a bun sammich w a cold beer is something I remember well.
