well finally went to Chiropractor to see about my hand numbness when welding and other stuff and why my lower back locks up when hunched over at any kind of work for more than few minutes (last week locked up bad, really bad to point of couldn't walk WTH???..)
So after x-rays review, my lower back on the right side has shifted over so bad that my right leg is 1" shorter than my left when I walk or lay down. They're still looking into how extensive the damage is but that WAS NOT the news I wanted to hear....he said expected to some degree from labor type jobs since age 16 but still not that much, he's guessing some genetic stuff but I wouldn't know since I'm adopted and don't know a lot about my biological family history.
My hand issue...damaged nerves and tendinitius along with some affect from my upper spine...i forget how he explained the spine affecting it but either way, without surgery I pretty much can't be a production welder just because of that alone.
Was also "guided" as to being cautious of what jobs I do since my lower disk issue cause apparently if I keep doing construction/mechanic/shop work stuff, I'm going to further damage it and could potentially get so bad that I'd put myself out of work.
THIS SUCKS HORRIBLY lol. All I've ever known is good hard work and speed and agility and now to be told this, I'm like loss of words. I suppose 20 years of full throttle go getter has caught up with me but dam, I'm only 37 and already have this issues. Well that's my big news for the day

Just wait til you hit 50. Then every sentence the doctor says begins with "At your age...."

A lot of people who claim to be smarter than they are say that a chiropractor isn't a real doctor. Me, I give credit where it's due and applaud those who have dedicated years to studying a certain area and have stuck with it. Thus, I respect them.
Take their advice and most importantly, take care of yourself.

You went to the wrong type doctor.

Chiropractor’s are real doctors that can cure a lot of different problems if you follow their instructions and stick with their adjustment schedules. I’ve been going for years for keeping in line and getting treatment for a bad back, allergies, knee problems, and all around health. I’ve never left his office with a prescription either which is all an Md wants to do is push a pill for this and a pill for that.

that's my plan, they are very flexible with payment plans so as long as that works out, I plan on trying to go once a week as he recommended to start on this "straightening" out my spine and such.
As for my hand issue of welding and things, surgery is not in the budget lol so I guess I'm just SOL for that one....dammit (welding and metal working is my favorite thing to do and go figure, can't)

now i hate myself for not taking that Shop Manager position months back...dang it, stupid lol. That's about the only line of work that might work out for me to make a descent income since everything else that pays pretty good I can't do

You will be surprised what your body will correct once you start getting regular adjustments and changing the way you do everyday tasks.

Chiropractors are not doctors.

True statement. They are not doctors. They are chiropractors. Doctors are no longer trained to heal people. They are trained to identify symptoms and prescribe medicines to treat symptoms and reduce pain. If most doctors were half as smart as they think they are, there would be no more need for them. And to be clear, Ive never been to a chiropractor and am not necessarily a fan of them either.

I get that Chiropractors aren't "doctors." I went there because after speaking with many people of who to see about my issues, that's what was recommended. Plus I know doctors just hand out prescriptions and I'm not into medications, never have been.
For me so far it seems I went to the right place. He seemed to know what he's talking about and for my hand issued, it lines up with all the research I did lately.

So true. I went to a general doctor about a foot issue I was having only thing she could say was it's just fluid build up and it was something I would have to live with. She wasn't even considering recommending me to a specialist until I had to almost demand it. So after I saw a specialist he got me setup with a brace and special insoles along with anti-inflamatories to help correct the issues and allow my foot to heal properly.

Are you sure that's not just pelvic alignment? Your back can't shift your hips. Your pelvis shifts your hips.

What changed my mind, was going to a few Doctors & Orthopedic Surgeon, that Couldn't find my back problem. First visit to a Chiropractor, I found out What was wrong! Plus he asked me about 3 times, if the Surgeon checked such & such? No, the Surgeon never did! Chiropractor has kept me going & 90% cured, for the past 25 years!
Marty, I do question some of what was told you. Maybe it was the way you understood it, or not. But makes me wonder if you need a Second Chiropractor opinion?

Chiropractors aren’t doctors...but I’ve literally been carried into my chiropractor’s office in so much pain I’ve barely been able to breathe, and walked out. The same scenario at the doctors, I was wheeled out with a prescription for a cane and pain killers.

That said, best lesson my old man ever taught me was working 20hr days in his unconditioned machine shop during NC summers...taught me when I grew up I wanted to sit my fat ass in a nice comfy chair in a 70* office.

It probably is, he showed me/explained so much I might be saying it wrong. I know he said a disk is shifted over and misaligned. He was actually surprised I can still do and lift what I can with what he found lol.

Im probably wording things wrong, tomorrow I go back for more in depth stuff on all this so I'm sure I'll understand things better

And I know for sure my right side is 1" shorter lol when laying down..kinda freaky weird, wife's creeped out too when I showed her laying down straight

Explains why driving long distance for past years sucks...sitting on couch sucks...stuff I just thought was normal but never said nothing

Try this guy

He took out my liver bones a few years back....

Fixing pelvic alignment is easy. Just lay on your back with your feet flat on the floor and knees bent at a 90* angle. Try like hell to keep your knees together while somebody else tries to pull them violently apart. Do that three or so times.

Then go find a real doctor.

Have you ever been in a crash, had whiplash, jumped a truck or car and bottomed out the suspension, jammed your head/neck into to you shoulders, fallen hard on you back or arse or otherwise compressed your spine? injuries and strains to your spine/neck and the discs in the spine slip, compress or bulge the nerves get aggravated. When that happens all kinds of problems can arise. Muscle spasms or cramps, numbness, loss of flexibility/range of motion, sharp pain, headaches and on and on. W help from a chiro./ physical therapy/stretching and exercise you can get better. Don't expect 100% but do all you can to heal/take care of yourself, it's a lot cheaper. It's good to realize you're not bulletproof and think before hurting yourself again the older you get the longer it takes to heal from about any injury.

I've had good/bad experiences with chiros. My bad experience was being practically carried in by my wife and the chiro prescribing 3-4 months of 4-5 visits a week at $45 a piece. After two weeks, it wasn't any better so I went and saw an ortho... I'll only use them now for alignments every now and then. One of the members at my gym is a chiro and hes good people, I've used him in the past with great results. I had a similar situation a few years ago with my back. Couldn't walk for 2 weeks etc. The best thing for it was getting back in the gym and strengthening my core. I haven't had an issue since being back in the gym full time. I know you are active and work a lot but there's a difference between working and working out. Take care of your back, its the only one you got and from my limited experience with people who have had back surgery/fusions, it never gets back to full strength...
