The One More Time Build

Still slowly working on this thing when I have time. Not much has changed. Just have wiring, cooling fan, trans shifter and the cable shifters for the transfer case.

But, it's hard to find the time when you bring other stuff home that you want to tinker with. Just picked this up Thursday night

What do you need 2 jeeps for? o_O

Well, you see, um, it was a good deal, um and I had two, then I sold one, now I have two again. How's that?

Haha, I completely understand.

Well, I sold the cj7 that I picked up, so now I get to pay some attention to this build again. The easy stuff first, of course. I bolted up the new contactor pack on the 8274 I picked up and it works great. Picked up some junk 35 rollers for free to see how that size would fit. I think I'm going to be happy with it. Time to order some tires. At least it will make me feel like I'm accomplishing something.

This is looking slick. I know how you feel with your comment on "feeling like something's getting accomplished." That's me every day... lol.

I believe I might be copying your crossmember. I built one similar, then realized I wanted my exhaust inside the rails. Now it's trash, but I'll make a new one.

Thanks, I'm to the stuff I really don't like doing. That's the hard part for me. Wiring pisses me off. And I really done have room for a fan with the Cj front clip. It's really tight.

I know that's going to be my problem in the near future... I had an electric can, but it doesn't quite cut it. I think I'm going to go with a mechanical fan and clutch. I'm pretty sure that will fit. Keep plugging along, you're doing great!

Well, a lot of time has passed and not a lot of progress. I moved, so that slowed things down tremendously.

My transmission had some problems so I had to pull it out. I tore it down and found a broken spring that seemed to put some trash through the pump. The internals otherwise looked excellent. I decided to take my spare trans to a shop for a rebuild. Got that back Thursday and installed Friday. It seems to work correctly and I plan to drive it today. I still have an issue with it not running right. Hopefully, it's just bad gas.

Looks good man.

Small update...
Finally got my wiring tuned up some. Still have to loom it all. Still need to tie up some loose ends like wiring the fan to a temp switch. Got a different Volvo fan that fit better and the corresponding relays that go with it. Pretty happy with how it turned out.
Gonna load up this week and take it to the trans shop to make sure the kickdown cable is right. Just insurance for my warranty on it.

I also sprayed my fenders with the rattle can finish that the rest of the jeep will get. It will be due some new fenders at some point. The passenger one has some rust through that I'm not going to fix.

I really like those tires....I was thinking about getting a set for my 2500HD.

The Jeep is looking good and so is my old trailer!

Finished my 8274 winch plate mods to make it fit the yj and look a little better as well. Excellent side effect of that heavy ass winch is getting the ride height down some more in the front. Pretty happy with the front height now. I also moved the front axle forward an inch on the spring pads. Gave me the extra room to the back that I needed for the 35's. Need to lower the rear at least 2" now.

Jeep is tagged, running, and driving. Having a temperature issue at the moment. It's not bad, just creeps over time while driving. Worried the 8274 is killing my airflow. Speaking of 8274....
Decided to make a hawse fairlead instead of buying one. Got the first side done at work sat.
