I'm looking at possibly picking up a 2014 laramie. Anyone have any experience with these good or bad?
I've had 99 as and 03 Cummins and 03 and 07 duramax.
Currently running an 11 tundra.
I don't really pull much, just want one.

Had a 15 2500 with the 6.4 it was the roughest riding truck I ever had. Main reason I got shed of it was all the recalls on it. Couple times I squeezed around 16mpg with it. Everytime I cranked that truck it would make a chirp the dealership claimed was normal. Kept it till 7000 miles and dumped it

Coil suspension or air suspension?

Love my 14 2500 6.4. The reason for the reported rough ride is because they call for 80 psi in the rear tires and 65 up front and you have to find someone to adjust the tpms so you reduce the psi to a more streetable amount. I have the big horn edition and it's nice having all the modern tech, comfortable for a 2500 and I have the sport package or black appearance group which looks great. I don't haul or tow heavy to justify the diesel so I opted for 6.4 and if you can get by the 11.6 city or 16.5 highway mpgs it's a beast and has plenty of power. I recently just leveled it with HBS 2" spacer and Bilstein 5100s to slap on 37x12.50x20 Cooper STT PROs and it rides even better.

As with any truck or car you'll hear people who have issues but for the most part it's been reliable over the last 5 mths. The third brake light will leak if the new tape hasn't been installed and that's kinda annoying. You'll need to find someone who will adjust the tpms parameters or deal with the light so you can reduce it to a comfortable ride.

Thanks for the replies.
Did any of you compare it to a denali? Those are two trucks I'm between.

My work truck is a 15 ltz duramax and it is weak. My cummins will pull circles around it. I'm not bias to any truck I've owned them all but have always went back to a cummins and the 4th gens are by far the best. If I had the money I would have probably bought a 17 powerstroke but didn feel like spending 70k on one when I can get a ram same options for 55k

I have a 1500, if you don't haul super heavy stuff why get a 2500, you can get the same options, smoother ride and better gas milage with the 1/2 ton truck, and most likely for less $$. Unless you just need to see a 2 on the side instead of a 1, but that's a lot to pay for a emblem.

I have a 2015 2500 with a Cummins and a 6 speed manual.
34,000 trouble free miles. I regularly tow 9500# without issue. My new 34' GN will be here tomorrow and I will then be towing 14k and I foresee no issues then.

There is no real logic behind it, I just want one. Most of my years driving have been in a 3/4 diesel. So I agree with what you said, but want a 2500.

I had an 09 Ram 1500 a few years ago and they replaced the cv axles three times and could never find out why it kept destroying them. I don't buy a pickup for gas mileage and I prefer the front end and height of a stock 2500 so when you level it, it's a decent size without going crazy. My leveled 2500 is the size of a 6" lifted 1500. Not to mention my truck is more than I need rather than not enough. And, as mentioned, it's what I wanted.

16 Ram 1500, way more than needed, didn't buy it for the mpg, that was just a bonus!

I had a 14 2500 CTD Crew cab and liked it. I traded it in after christmas for basically the same truck but in a 3500 Mega Cab so I could get the Aisin trans. The 2500 was fine for pulling my Jeep but my 14K boat it didn't really like it too much. The additional wheelbase really helps with the bigger loads.

I'd like to see you make some bullshit straw man argument...

OK I'd like to see you haul a scoop of fill dirt/gravel/peat Moss etc in anything other than a pickup

They make little utility trailers and sell them for less than what a couple years worth of pickup truck tags cost. The break-even is definitely less than 4yrs.

But since we're talking straw men... how many people do you know that haul bulk 57 stone in the bed of a $65k Laramie? I wouldn't put mulch in the bed of a new truck.

Well i'm one. Sure they make utility trailers. I have one. Most don't have side walls and certainly make navigating in certain instances tougher. And that says nothing for hauling an ats, a dead deer or turkey etc.

I had nothing but a Tahoe for about a year. Hated it. Loved the vehicle but it seems like weekly I needed a truck for somethibg. Never again will I be without a truck bed.

BTW where I live we don't have fancy folks come to our house and get our garbage. We haul it to the dump. A coutlet times a week I carry a couple bags of trash off on the way to work. Id hate to have to keep that inside a vehicle (stinks)

I have gone back and forth with trading mine towards a 3500 so I can get the Aisin and the Cummins tune that comes with it. Having previously been a transmission tech for Dodge, I opted for the hand shaker.
Once the warranty is over, I suspect some parts will fall off the front of engine and underneath and more power for towing will be available.

Notice a big difference between the two trainees other than the extra power? I've been eyeballing a few 2500's, but really want a 3500 with the Aisin ASC69RC. They are just so hard to find, and the only way to know for sure is check the VIN.
