Thanks...first few were done in house, more economical to send them out now to another shop better equipped to handle the demand. Still to our specs though. These are mine that were done in house. Probably the 7-8th set done.

Thanks man...growing organically, word of mouth, Facebook groups, etc. Paul is the part of the puzzle that's up in Joppa, he primarily handles the complete builds and fabrication.
 
Not every day you see pistons like these. Project: Pumpkin Spice's pistons.

They're diamond forged, with 4.440 bore, 1.285 comp height, 7.8cc dome, adding up to 15:1 compression. Will go on Ohio 7.100" H-beam rods and a 3.890 stroke crank to make a 480ci...turning 8000 rpm, for a truck pull motor.

It's tough convincing guys they need to spend another $2500-5000 on an appropriate injection system when they've already dropped $15k on a 600-1000hp build.

But we are jonesing hard for someone to write that $25k check so we can do a 600ci efi 1000+hp street build.

Stay tuned though...my personal build will be evolving...I'll be going roller cam/aluminum heads/forged pistons first, but after that I'll be testing out a couple different aftermarket efi units from fitech to quickfuel and a couple in between. Make some Dyno pulls and see if they make any difference.
 
I wish I could afford for you to build my 351m. I'm not going all out like that though, just stock. Awesome work.

Thanks man...most of our base engine builds start at $4500, that would get you about 300hp out of an M. I understand that sounds like a lot since every build thread on the Internet has a buddy that gets free parts and machine work, but that's not much more than a Jasper, with twice the power and a better warranty.

That's exactly what this M turned out to be.

It's not like I play in that realm of money, but I have the opposite philosophy. If I'm going to spend that kind of money on something like that, I can't put the brakes on the spending when it comes to the thing that controls the fueling and operation of the engine.

Basically, why would I spend the money on a max-effort engine build and NOT put fuel injection on it...? I want all of the performance that I paid for, I don't just want to slap a carb on it and call it good. I don't want to compromise on power curve optimization, and driveability, and fuel economy, and cold idle performance, and tip-in acceleration, and the list goes on and on.
 
I'm right there with you...I'm the same way, and I like the idea of being able to drive upside down if I want to. Most of our customers though look at it like this...being competitive/winning is being competitive/winning. People are weird...and I'm not sure why that's the area they get cold feet. Another one I see frequently are with headers...drop $10k on an engine, then want to scrimp and go with $199 headers from summit. Most of the time they can be convinced to go with the $450 mad doggs...but I'd bet only 20% opt for mad doggs and the $450 jet hot coating. That said, I'm pretty good at spending other people's money.

Simple answer: Ford guys are still scared of computers. :flipoff2:

Honestly, though, a lot of guys still consider a carb a simpler form of delivery. Less wires, no sensors, nothing to go wrong. Drives me crazy when I see somebody rip the EFI off a vehicle and slap on a carb because they had a simple problem, but didn't want to diagnose it.

Agreed...I see it daily in my groups, 'stupid efi isn't working right, what do I need to swap to a carb'. My standard response is, if you can't pull a code to tell you what general area is malfunctioning, they should probably avoid swapping the top end. But again, on the internet, 98% of people think tuning a carb is turning the mixture screws 1.25 turns out, soooo...you have that to contend with.
