Anyone know if the Chrysler 4.0L and the 5.2L share the same bellhousing bolt pattern? I know they both have similar trannies from the factory bolted behind them, but didn't know if there were different bolt patterns.

Item in question is that I found a 42RE, but the one I found is behind a 6 cyl, and It'll be going behind my Dads V8.

$@%#%^

Thanks for ruining my day Lee...

Why's that? IF your scheming to swap the drive train out of the '98 into the '93, you might as well figure on swapping the engine, tranny, finding a new NON-fulltime TC, along with the harness from the '98 or...

Use parts from the GG to resurrect the '98 (+ some $$ for a tranny rebuild)...

which motor are you bolting to? 93 used an aw4 didn't it. if so i have a good running one...

no no no.. not my '93. I would NEVER swap out my aw4 for a 42RE. HELL NO! My Dad's '98 318/42RE was stolen, and recovered. the tranny only has 1st Gear now. So i was looking for a donor 42RE. Elliott has one, but he's running a I6. We weren't sure if it had the same pattern. That's all.

the 5.2L shares the same bellhousin pattern as a 3.9L V6, so youre best bet is to either get a tranny from a V8 GC, V6 or V8 dodge truck, or grab one of the older non-OD Mopar trannies....
