Well my XJ long armed with 36's and full interior with winch bumpers front and rear and just sliders and frame stiffeners weighed in at 4173

Sent from my sprint GS3, which is amazing because that means I actually have signal.

Last time I was there, they didn't work.

That one is heavier than it looks. There's around 2k just in unsprung weight.

All you gotta do is reach in there and push the power button. A friend of my dads worked for the DMV for over 30 years and told me that they cut them off sometimes, but all you gotta do is hit the right button.

I'm going to try this tonight. I've always heard it worked but it sure looks shitty. And, xj's are usually lighter than people think but that is a lot of tire and axle. I'm gon say 5100.

AJ go weigh the XJ so I can get my gold star sticker!

I'll run by there in the truck on the way home and let yall know if they are working.

i got to get it off blocks to weigh it lol. when i get the chance i'm going to weigh everything.
truck, truck and trailer, truck trailer and rig.

Well, take a picture of the power button while you're there. It was all lit up the last time I was there, but wouldn't read any weight. I pressed all the buttons, but nothing changed.

I've never seen it stuck on a particular number. You've always struck me as an intelligent guy, so I assume you weren't straddling the scale, but you have to weigh 1 axle at a time (unless its a really short wheelbase like a jeep).

Went by there on my way home, front of the truck was 4200 even, rear was 2780 with a full tank of gas (03 Duramax Crewcab, standard bed, 4wd, no cargo or tools, no passengers). Pulled right up and everything was working.

This is the one on the south (eastbound) side of the road, right at the river?

Yeah, it's just a single axle scale. I pulled up on the scale, figured it needed to be zeroed or something, backed up, but it still wouldn't register. I think it just had a dash or a couple of dashes on the display.

Anybody ever stopped at a regular DOT scale on the interstate when they're closed? Do they turn the displays around to the window so you can read them if you pull in?

Well, I went to the north (westbound) side yesterday, but I typically go to the one on the south side. The one on the north side is off the road behind some trees so its less conspicuous.

Stock n Xj weighs,4700 on tag.so id say your is probably 4700 -4800 with upgrades m no people in it

Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk 2

A stock cherocar is closer to 3400lbs. That is the gvwr you are seeing, then consider the fact that the axles/steering alone weigh around 900lbs more than the stock junk.
