Why do people spell Cummins as Cummings?

Have you noticed how many people say or write/type Cummings instead of Cummins? Even people who own the engine, with it written correctly on the side of their truck, still add a "g"!

Not trying to pick on anyone, just think it's funny how often I see it. :)

I blame poor parenting.

;)

Stupidity should be painful.

Hey, doesn't Ford own Cummings? :flipoff2:

The same reason they put their clothes in "chester drawers".

I have no explanation for it. If you can't read it off the side of your truck then you're hopeless. I don't think that I've even seen a real spelling bee challenger come out of the side of a truck from the factory.

Just be thankful it hasn't been shortened to Cumn's. I'm sure there are plenty of rednecks that own a dodge that also lack spelling ability to achieve the "Cummings" spelling!

What about Drive thru?
And Sopposebly?
and people who brake their (there) breaks?
and ( my personal favorite right now), a guy in my neighborhood with a car

"4 sell buy owner"

Could be the same reason some guys write "Toyota" like this: JEEP.

Another good one here in Cleveland County "I got this friend of mine who..."

Uglyjeep nailed my biggest one:

"I've got 4 tires to sale"
"I would like to sale my Honda"

grrrr...

And why do we park in a driveway and drive on a parkway??? sheesh

Why do we call someone that goes into space an Astronaut and a but doctor a proctologist?

I can't believe this thread actually got to two pages...

It got to two pages because there are still people who think some utility poles have "guide" wires, and that strip between the lanes is a "medium."
