I have a 06 mercury grand marquis I drive to keep miles off the truck. It’s got 103k on it currently and I’m about to put it’s 3rd set of tires on shortly. I was just thinking about the front suspension, with the age and mileage of the car... didn’t want to get tires on, pay for an alignment, then months later, put coil overs on and have to pay again for an alignment.

many signs to tell if they’re bad or going out?

I noticed drivers front tire has wear on inner/outter edge, but the pressure was a little low, which could be it and not the suspension.

You ideally shouldn't have to have a realignment if the ride height doesn't change. As for checking if they're good or bad, just push down on the car and then release it for a rebound. If it doesn't immediately arrest the suspension bounce, they need to be replaced.
