What have you done to your rig today?

Posting for @moldman05.

On the last trip out at the top of mason jar, my dads front driveshaft and carrier bearing quit, while the 502 was on the rev limiter, and the 43” sticky SX’s were smoking.

Nothing major was hurt, other than front driveline, and took out rear brake line. Dented the oil filter, and wrinkled the 1/8” aluminum floor. The old setup was PTO-ish parts and a generic cast iron pillow block bearing.

We have been working to get it back together and wanted to show the setup we have now from Dave @ Olivers. My dad Russ also wanted me to post the pictures of his atlas shifters he made last year. The cable shifters never really worked well for him, so he ditched that and went to direct levers.

We made the front driveshafts equal length, so in the future, will only need to carry one spare for both front shafts. We also installed a carrier bearing from Olivers that is way more stout than the previous one. All 1410 joints and 1/4” wall on the lower shaft.

I like the quick disconnect pins on the Altas linkage. Super smart.
Definitely stealing that idea, thanks :)

Pulled the head last night, might just replace the valve and see how she runs.

Well I attempted to add a second E-fan and secondary trans cooler....however after reassembly, I didn’t grind down the studs enough from the mechanical fan so they are rubbing on the electric fan, and I have a leak at one of the new trans cooler connections. So I get to tear it all back apart and fix.....I wired the second fan to an “on/off” switch but found out it only controls “high/low speed” on the fan, so I ditched that and just tapped into the other electric fans wires for the second fan, is this gonna be an issue??

Started on the front one ton swap this weekend. Haven't received all the outboarding brackets yet, so this is about it till next weekend. Flux core booger welds and all.

Dodge club cab headliner......finally got sick of the fabric tapping on my hair.
Dodge did not give much thought to the poor SOB who had to pull this with the glass in the cab. Driving this week with the dog in the cab and all the windows down was the death blow to what little foam and adhesive still existed in the OEM fabric.

About a week ago my wife and I got a nice, pleasant wake-up call from my 2006 F-350 around 5-530am. The horn was blaring and would not stop. Not the alarm type beep-beep-beep, etc. but just a constant lay on your horn outside of your buddy's house when you were a teen to be a straight dickface. A little searching around the googles and all signs were pointing to this little $125 part.

Basically just a contact patch type deal I suppose but super quick fix (10-15 minutes start to finish including dragging tools out and drinking a Busch Light). Only problem is...you gotta remove the airbag to get to the sumbitch.

I was nervous as a polecat in a standoff with a porcupine. Not sure you could've driven a toothpick up my ass w/ a sledgehammer.

I had an '05 Grand Cherokee years ago and had to replace a component in the steering wheel. I can't remember what, but it's a common problem with them. It wasn't the clockspring, I don't think, but maybe part of it? Anyway, it was behind the airbag. So after I disconnected the battery for an hour or so I was very careful getting that out, used just my hands and kept my face away as best I could, lol.

Exactly what I did, stayed as far the hell away as I could and used my Lurch arms to the best of their ability to get in there. Also, both batteries have been disconnected since it happended (~1 week). But that's as much of an airbag I've ever seen and ever care to see.

Reassembly after changing frame side upper link mounts, carrier bearing mount/ crossmember, carrier bearings and shortening front driveshaft.

Almost ready for the non nc4x4 get together tomorrow.

Maintenance day for the tow pig. Synthetic fluids front to back, all filters replaced and tires rotated.
No pics, but imagine hot diesel oil spraying across the clean shop floor when it lands on the drain plug in the bucket.
Pretty sure that's a standard feature, as it happens to me the majority of the time also.

Got my new (to me) bumper and tire carrier painted and installed. Thanks to some prep advice in another thread on here, the paint turned out pretty good.

I honestly had no idea it would be so time-consuming just to install a rear bumper. Had to make a template to drill 4 holes in the rear crossmember, drill 4 holes in the frame rails, drop the fuel tank, and remove the license plate holder and trim it a bit.

Not the rig, but the rig-dragger. Put a set of airbags on it. Now maybe @shawn will hate on it 3% less.

Still trying to figure out why the PO installed a gooseneck hitch but no airbags.
