Just got through getting a new P/S wheel bearing pressed in and I wanted to check the torque on a couple of bolts after I put everything back together. This is for a '96 Tacoma.

Big Fat 36mm CV Axle nut = 124 lbs?
Bolts that hold lower ball joint to knuckle = 53 lbs?

According to my crappy Chiltons manual, I believe the axle nut should be 174ft lbs. The lower BJ should be 59ft lbs.

OK thanks. After you posted that I found the axle nut specs. In the Haynes Manual they're calling it the 'driveaxle hub nut' and 174 ft lbs it is. However for some reason they were saying 43 ft lbs for the Tacoma lower ball joint bolts and 53 for a 4-Runner. But I went to 60 ft lbs to be safe and put some lock-tite on the bolts. So I should be good.
