tracking down a corvette

My brother and I are trying to locate one of two vettes my dad owned when I was a kid. All I know is that one of them was a 58 and was sold in B'ham ala in 1969. yeah I know a vin # would be great but..... has anyone here tried to locate a vehicle like this. Any help would be great.

Need a vin really......or if the dealer is still open they might have record but I would find the person he sold it to and go from there

trying to think of a paper trail you could maybe try to follow to get a VIN...insurance co., dmv, dealership, property taxes...?

gotta be recorded somewhere.

I'm going to try the ala dmv today, seems like the registration for the car would have the vin#, but I'm not sure how things were done in 69. I may try to check my dads driving record , he was a hot rodder so there may be records of tickets or something.

Just a hunch, but I'd guess a corvette board would yield better results than a 4x4 board

seriously, it would be similar to here, where everyone knows about other peoples rig(s), and are ~familiar with who has what, from where etc.. just my .02 oh ya I 'think' there are old car/corvette registries, might search on that..
