Round 2: Keepin' up with the Joneses, Mud Devils and Tony Woody

Wrapped up the winch mount today. The D-ring mounts are tied back through the “bumper” a few inches for more weldment. I tried to keep them as tight as I could so they don’t get drug across everything. This piece also protects the bottom of the radiator, before it was just thin sheet metal.

With the new wheelbase and tightening all this stuff up to the grill he’ll have a 90* approach angle where before the front end stuck out pretty far. I’m super happy I went ahead and cut the stock core support crap out. It made a huge difference.

@Jody Treadway please tell me you're going to put the croc meme on your shifters!

The front end is wrapped up finally. Lights came in yesterday. Took a week longer than “next day delivery”. Spent the last few days mounting all the little details that got displaced when I cut out the factory core support. I went ahead and tied in the front bumper tube a little higher. I was undecided on doing it but someone on FB called me out so I had to lol. Hood pins are done. Steering cooler mounted. Engine cage/shock tower brace done. Headlight pockets done, welded and tied in. Air filter and mass air mounted.

It’s definitely the meanest ranger I’ve seen. I’m pretty stoked with how it came out.

Once Jody gets it back and cleans up the wiring a bit it’ll hopefully look pretty good under the hood. I think he’s going with a different EFI setup that’ll get rid of a ton of the random wiring.

Next will be the belly pan band then on to the rear links and lowering it a bit.

:shaking: Thank goodness magazines are a thing of the past. Because rump ranger 2.0 would grace the cover of another rag when you're done with it.... thus swelling Jody's head up even more.

:lol::smokin:

Made good progress on the belly pan this morning before the Thanksgiving festivities.

This is the rear half. There will still be a section under the trans and hopefully oil pan if I can find a place to tie it in that doesn’t interfere with the upper link and exhaust. Space is tight!

The bolt holes in the middle of the rear are where I tied a mount into the new transfer case crossmember and the panel on the side up front is access to the front driveshaft/t-case mount so you can remove the front shaft without pulling the whole damn thing out.

He had a flat belly before so I tried to keep it as flat still as possible this go round. The slight drop in the front is so that I can build a more substantial skid under the trans with sides so it won’t bend. Did I say space is tight! Fortunately it still doesn’t come lower than the front link mounts.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Info on those countersink washers?

I got them from @Barnes4wd. Pretty sweet little pieces. He’s got a few sizes. He also has weld in threaded inserts in various sizes. They’re what I used In the bottom of the frame to mount the pan.

Only one tool required to remove the pan and the access panels. If you’ve got a ratchet or impact gun you’ll be able to disassemble and remove the whole pan with a 5/8” socket, no wrenches and no reaching your arm up inside a greasy pan to get to nuts.

It’s gotta be easy to make trail repairs when you get to beat on your stuff.

Apparently I’ve reached my upload cap for the month on Tapatalk so let’s try this.

in my best Fats Domino voice “ain’t that a shame”. It’s my kids favorite song. I guess they’re old souls lol.

working on the front of the belly pan today. Trying to get all the way out under the oil pan is a challenge. Plus I gotta find a way to mount the front. Planning to do something off the motor mounts.
