@Willc new truck vs fix thread in General got me to doing some shopping and figuring.

Might consider a reman for my '06 F250 5.4 gasser. Anybody here on NC4x4 do this sort of work full time? Would like to give a NC4x4 vendor or member the business, maybe.
 
From what research I've done, the 5.4 is not a good candidate to rebuild due to the extreme small oil passages. Crate motor is the way to go.
