I'm not sure if this is a great deal or not, but I stopped by Northern Tool yesterday after work and saw that they had their 3"x30ft recovery strap on sale for $35. It is normally $50.

I bet ya could save a few more $ by tying loops in the ends of your old tie down straps; probably gonna be about the same quality.



Seriously though, don’t skimp on safety and recovery gear. Make sure it’s good quality and fit for duty. Many times there are bystanders that their life and safety rely on that equipment not failing.
 
^ that's what I do.. however, that being said, I only use them to pull another vehicle, never with my winch (which has steel cable). The knot never lets go, it's always right next to the knot that breaks (weakened I guess).
