correct hinge will attach to wood at top..
good idea on canvas
well been getting very dirty last few nights..
I added a bunch of cross braces to frame, used wire wheel to clean the heavy rust of trailer ( just nasty ).
then I got the deck area that will go under camper all fitted and welded on.
I also cleaned up gooseneck, so now I can get the neck braces all welded on. then I will cut off the old bent c channel on top of neck and replace with 1/4" wall steel.
I also put fenders in place just to see how they look
Here are some pics.
I only hate you because I'm jealous
Only ten days to go!
technically 17 days
"Technically", there are either 10 or 11 days between today and the 9th. Depends on how you count them, but I don't see it adding up to 17.
correct.. but I really need it all done ready with camper on it by the 15th.. I would like to have trailer done by 9th.. so i have time to register it, etc..
I just never posted the actual correct date above..
well got a little more done tonight..
fyi.. I hate cut off wheels. I am now buying a plasma for myself for x-mas
I got bottom support welded on under front area of trailer
it took me 30 mins to cut this angle piece with a cut off..
but atleast I got one side cut and welded in.. will cut the other pieces tomorrow at friends with plasma
well only had about 1 hr tonight in shop..
got other side neck brace in and one bottom brace in also.
then I took off rims and tires and loaded them into truck..
I order 6 new Maxxis trailer tires.. hope to have the rims and tires back sat if the tires come in.
looking good. that metal looks like the metal i get to work with...rusted and not new. i actually don't think i've ever welded on a new piece of metal.
Well today I got all neck bracing DONE
and then wire wheeled the old rims and got them mounted on trailer also.
I then cut out all rear braces and re welded them back in space correctly and lower so I can install a wood deck on rear area.
Of course I ran out of welding wire so I need to go get some tomorrow.
But if all goes well I hope to be painting it tomorrow(supposed to be nice)
oh and I need to either get sponsored by MAXXIS or buy some of there stock. I have now bought 11 trailer tires in 3 years :0
well got some more done..
I got everything finish welded and all deck bracing in.
Then I pulled it outside and painted all day..used rustoleum black oil based used my paint gun to spray it on...
still waiting on front jack top arrive
Looks awesome Ken!
did you wire wheel the whole thing before painting or did you just spray it?
Yup I wire wheels the entire thing.. it was not fun.
made a huge mess in garage
That looks great !
Thanks it is finally coming together.. still bunch more to do..
Looks good.......wish I worked that fast.
it is only because I have an AWESOME Wife that lets me go play in garage..
Of course she wants it done so we can use it, so that helps
well got 12,000lb front jack this AM
can not work on trailer tonight.. but plan to start wiring and attach jack wed night
more getting done
I got brace in place and welded in for jack and extra support for main uprights
I got jack in place.. just need to add extension bar for handle
I also got safety chains done
I got wood deck in place
tomorrow the plan is to get all the lights in and wiring done..
still trying to get it inspected friday
Just wondering your reasoning for the half and half on the deck? Does it serve a specific purpose?
That looks damn good...
Amazing how you get shit done...
yes.. camper is going to sit on metal deck,( i also got that metal very very cheap), then when you walk out of camper you have a nice front porch with the wood deck. so you will be able to walk bare foot if you wish onto wood and not burn your feet on the wood.
oh and I like being different
