Purple YJ Build

Took the motor apart today. Brought the chassis home to mock up front end and motor mounts.
We will see how much I can get done with it at my own shop.

I just picked this one up off Amazon and it's supposed to arrive today. I'll let you know what it's like. Supposed to be a knock off of the 302-1 Holley

I’ve got a pan coming that should work. Just waiting on it to make the ride from Raleigh up to Greensboro.

Be careful with all these non-baffled pans. They don't like to sit at angles.
It’s a baffled Tilden pan a buddy never got around to using.
Trying to avoid an accumulator if possible.

I mean... I run a free long block built out of junk laying around with reused TTY hardware and head gaskets but I have an expensive oiling system since I want to make sure I can beat on it for a long time.

Planning to freshen up the engine (IE invest money in it) like you're doing and not spending money in all the supporting oiling mods seems backwards to me.

I also realise that you can skin a cat in many different ways and your approach might work great for what you're planning to do with it. I was just adding my 2 cts to the convo.

I always appreciate your opinion. I’m just a dumb drywall guy doing all this for the first time. Keep dropping knowledge here please.

~$500 in an oil accumulator can save a $2500 motor build 🤷🏽‍♂️ Personally unless it's a truck pan, I'd put an accumulator on it.

On behalf of @Hoodw!nks bank account and his fun time manager, I support this.

Thinking about changing up my t case to a Hero 2 speed.
New range box is shorter than the one I have but it is still just a bunch of weight and is going to be difficult to figure out how to mount it.
I’m trying to drop the drivetrain down lower to help my seats sit lower in the chassis.

I think the hero will sit just in front of the rear tube of my subframe. Wish they had dimensions on their website.

I swear I’ve googled this many times in the last week. Now it pops right up on google… 🤦🏻‍♂️
Should fit great.

I wish they could send me a 3D printed plastic one to use for mock up since I have to wait 20 weeks for a case.

I know of someone who made a wood mock up. Not too hard.

Also, just my 2 cts (IDK if you don't care about them) but I'd save my money and get an Atlas. Nothing you will do with this car will break one, they are cheaper, smaller, lighter, easier to get parts for and a lot less noisy.

Race case or trail series?

Depends on your use I guess.

Race case holds to 700hp BKOR bouncers.
I haven't broken my trail case and I've been trying but I only have 300hp.

Think about all the guys with an Atlas from before they made Race versions. Plenty are still driving around happily.
