One Ton 2nd gen Tacoma Build

This looks 200% better than the 1.0 version!
I was planning to do something like this under the bar up top, but I think I’m going to drop the rear of the top down some more to make it slant back a bit. Should be better looking than it was. It was too square and awkward.

Obligatory “needs more triangulation” post

Decided that I like it like this. Needs more triangles still.

That’s a lot of dead nodes.
It is for now. Still more to add to beef it up.
Just getting the main part designed and tacked together.
Needs more lateral bracing. Front to back on the main bar is pretty solid now.
The top hoop is more for storage, and if this thing rolls I’ll have more to worry about than just that.

thinking of doing this. Also adding some sort of “X” behind the cab.

Rear tube is pretty much welded together. Thanks to @hurt4x4.
Moved the front axle forward an inch. Also drilled another hole in the steering arm to help get the drag link further from the motor. Steering stops on the axle still hit before box is maxed out.
Cut out the frame in the passenger frame rail to clear the drag link. Gotta get it all back together cause this weather is beautiful.

Graham got the frame plates started.
Kinda nice being able to sit at home and have someone work on your rig. Thanks brother.

Not nearly enough room. lol
And too many cameras...

Finished up the rear cage. Added a sheet of aluminum for cooler storage.
Gulches was fun. Did good other than breaking the yoke on the Dana 60.
cut my fenders up too. Clears pretty good.

How did you like the Patagonia’s over the MTRs? I read a review from a guy in the northeast and said they don’t hook up well in the slop. Looks like you had dry conditions at gulches though.

The compound is much softer than the MTR’s which is nice. They do tend to hold onto mud though. The lower trails were still sloppy.
On a wet rock they do great, just not the best for a muddy hill climb.
They ride much nicer on the road than my MTR’s too.
