Now for something really different

Not going to lie, kind of nervous as I am going to be chopping up a lot of money over the next week or so.....

Can't deny I'm waiting with anticipation

Based on the original wheel base I doubt either of those engine/trans combo would fit.

It wouldn't have been much longer than what you've got. Less than a foot, I would bet. I think all the difference would have been in the transmission and transfer case tail shaft. Even as long as they are, the rear driveshaft in my CCSB 2500HD is still around 70" long

Your setup is definitely cheaper though :D

The original wheel base of the truck was only 79 inches and I've "stretched" it out to 105 inches. I will say I am looking forward to rolling up on an unsuspecting "insert pony car here" at a red light and leave them feeling slightly embarrassed. :burnout:

You've gotta go run it down the quarter mile when it's done, just for shits and giggles!

Made some forward progress this week. I cut down the cab section to a more manageable size and cut the end section off the bed. I purposely cut it too long, much easier to nibble off more than to add some of this thin metal back on. Everything is lining up nicely, I have a plan for getting the bed section cut down to size and merged with the cab. Going to be a lot of nibbling going forward. We slide the dually bed back and kept it level so I can make sure the bed lines match.

I’ve made some good progress on the box over the last week. The box portion is sized down to where it needs to be and the cab portion is getting there too. I need to make some more adjustments to the box and it will be time to start the process of merging the two pieces together. The bad thing is I will be out of town for the next week and a half so it’s gonna have to sit, and just when I was rolling so good on it.

Don't you hate that?! I had to make a trip to Pax River, MD to work on a V22 right in the middle of an injector job on my LB7. It sucked!

Man it’s killing me. The more I see it come together the more I want to work on it. My mind is always working on this and I want to see it done and mounted on the truck. So can’t wait to see both boxes mounted so I can get that first overall sight of the truck!

More progress pictures. Using blue tape to mark my cut lines. I had to make some marks so I would remember which side of the tape to cut when I get back. These cut lines are critical as they are determining the length of the box. So if I mess this up the box won’t look right.

I had to cancel my trip this week so I am able to get back in the shop and work on the box. I got the box trimmed and started moving the two pieces together. It is starting to take shape!

Will be back in the shop tomorrow night working on getting the two pieces mated together.

That's a nice box you've got there! :D

I actually got to spend some time in the shop today working on my truck. We made some good progress on the box! It is almost to the point of being ready to start welding together. I am really liking how it is all fitting together. The down side is I am going out of town Monday and will be gone for a week! Progress pictures:

Made some nice progress this weekend. I gotta tell you guys we’ve taken this thing apart and back together more times than I care to count. It’s almost like doing the hokie pokie... our the left side in you take right side out... lol

The box is at the size I want and it is turning out awesome, better than I imagined. We test fit it to the truck and the body lines up perfectly and fits to the cab like it was designed that way. So here’s the test fit. Will probably start welding it together this week. I hope!

You should be proud. That's gonna be one badass "different" truck.
