So I bought this truck with the ambulance box today. Working in getting it delivered the 89 miles to the house or drive it home.

First need to relocate the rear axle about a foot back to accommodate the box.

Plans are to build a ghetto toterhome to haul the sprint car. Going to try to put a couch in with a bunk above for room for three to sleep. Toilet will be boxed in in the back left. Frig and microwave somewhere.

The box has built in ac so I will need to figure that out.

List of stuff I want to do.
Paint - not sure color yet. Suggestions welcome
Air ride seats - 4 so center section is open to pass thru to box.
Upgrade interior

Me too. Bigiest reason that I am doing this is so my family doesn't have to race track bathrooms. Freaking disgusting. And on longer trips a nice place to sleep.

Paint the cab the ambulance yellow to match the body. :)

Car going in the box?

If so I suggest relocation of the axle using a 4-link setup with air bags and dump valves to make loading/unloading easier.

That is all.....other than I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT

Nope car is going in the trailer. Box will just have the living quarters and seats for the kids for close races. Anything over 3 hours away and I will be going solo or with a friend. Was thinking of gutting the box but I think I can make it work without too much hassle.

The box is a mess of wiring not sure what route I should take. Use what's there or rewire.

It still has the inverter. Also came with a hose line brand HVAC for the box.

What does it look like in the ambo box?
Can't be that bad?

Here my take.....
You have to make a list of:
What kind at activity you do? 4x4 wheeling, racing stuff,
How many days per trip?
How long are you driving there and back? 3 hours or 12 hours
How many trips per year ?
Are you planing to register it as an RV?
- Keep that in mind..

All this will help you to help make a plan.

For me, my inverter HEAVY (like 100#), gave it to a friend.
HVAC, the aux, i ripped it out, not needed.
All this frees up some space, that I can use for other needs.

I will say this, first, get it running and on the road, first.
Be in, maybe it temporary, but just getting on the road.
Then, worry about the rest.
It real easy to get caught up in the 'do this, do that' from everyone else.

I hope this made sense.......

Plan is to register as an RV to avoid cdl class b. Once I get the box mounted my first priority is getting the taillights working. Then after that figure the rest out.

Were was your HVAC located?

Fork I just looked up one of the systems and it is an all in one unit that runs lights hvac etc. Ugh looks like HVAC might be going if I can't make it stand alone

Interior gutted and defunked. It had 23 years of crap built up under the door sills. Mostly surface rust but some hole I will need to fix under front passenger foot area. Got the floor primed tonight.

If you haven't already, head over to expeditionportal.com, and look in the Expedition Campers: 4wd vans and Other Expedition Camper Sub Forums, There is a wealth of information on Ambulance conversions there. I learned a lot doing the conversion on mine there...
