I bet you have worn/noisy pinion bearings.

I mean, just throwing this out there :)

All joking aside, that's pretty good on that axle. Not a complicated repair, but a bit time consuming.
That used axle may not be much better, so having them rebuild what you have IMO is the best idea

Well the new(used) axle is in. The noise is gone. I reused the wheel bearing and brakes from the axle I had. I go started fairly early Sunday and was done by 3 that afternoon.

I am going to take apart the old axle and see if I can determine where the noise is coming from.
