I'm scrapping some junk GM V8 cars, and a couple of them have HEI distributors WITHOUT vacuum advance. I assume the computer controls the advance on these cars? (These are like 1982-1987 cars with computer controlled Q-jet carb)

It is worth saving these distributors? Like if using them in a carbureted application, wouldn't you want vacuum advance when road driving? Does vacuum advance really matter on the trail?

Thanks!
Richard

ill take em if your gonna toss them.. (maybe give ya a few $$)

my brother can use them on his race car(s) where they lockout the vac. advance vs using a $2 lockout stick on a normal dist..

As far as needing vac advance.. YES YES YES... thats where your power comes from when accelerating etc.. Mine was messed up last year when i was running at PAP and i could barly get out of my own way...

MSD makes a advance curve box so all your advance is electronic if you want to keep them it's around a hundred dollars and you can tune the curve.
