Going back to a dually?

My 97 3500 CTD 4x4 started out as a dually but the previous owner wrecked the fender skirts all to hell and decided to make it into a single wheel. That was fine with me when I bought the truck but lately for work Ive been wishing it was a dually again. I dont want to go through the time and money of going back to a stock dually setup so I was thinking about just getting a set of dual wheels and tires and some bolt on fender flares. It wouldnt have the same front end as a stock dually but would it really matter? What do yall think? Any drawbacks to this setup besides looking kinda weird?

Are you saying the DSPO went thru the time and $$ to swap axles because his fenders were beat up??

What axles are under it now?

I dont think he swapped axles but just took off the dually hubs up front and put some spacers behind the wheels in the back. I hadnt thought about the problem with the spares but I think I could get away with carrying just a standard front spare and it would work on the back too, it works now so why not?
