I know what a damn LJ is I’m wondering about yours. Specs on it?

Your message was clear as mud then. It's a stock unit. Cheap, perfect for a build (that's why I bought it). Send me a PM if you're in the market. Otherwise I'll post a topic in the For Sale section when it's ready to go.

Thanks

Got a buddy that will be in the market soon.

Nice build. Video of the Pony Hill and Creampuff runs when they happen or they didn't happen....

I put the wheels on Pony Hill this weekend. But it was 2h in a 4 day weekend and I didn't want to beat on it just now. Then my truck blew up and going up the hill seemed less important than dealing with my transportation to go back home.

I've already been up Creampuff in a loaner rig a couple years ago, and that's on video.

The key is to show up in August, when it's 100+ outisde and everything is dry AF. Creampuff under wet conditions is a bad idea

I watched a sami buggy crawl creampuff. My beat up ole pile of parts xj don't like those steep hills!!!

Back to the top for some updates !

Started on the Rear Steer axle.
4" tube 14 bolt with 05+ F250/350 outers.
40sp spool and big bells.

fetch

Also replaced the little 3.5" screen that took a shit on me by a 7" with custom layout

I made a mount for it this weekend. Massive thanks to my buddy Donny who's the AL TIG master and handled all the welding on the unit.

Fit-up, blending and keeping everything looking good is hard as shit. The pictures look good but I'll just say it was a learning process haha.

Huuuuge respect to those who make it look easy, like the WOD guys, Chris @MarsFab or Matt Cutler. BTW, Matt is cool as shit and gave plenty of pointers and feedback to help. Thanks a million @mcutler !

The 2 "knobs" on the side are waterproof USB ports that are wired as pass through, one goes to the screen to retrieve the datalog files and the other one goes to the ECU for laptop hook up / tuning.

Happy to help Enzo. You did a great job on it. Thanks for reaching out.

Took the buggy out for a ride at Windrock with friends. Killed it all weekend.
We rode all the hard shit and had a major blast.

My favorite moments were climbing up the big hill on the side of trail 2. I need more juice but 5.3 pinned to the floor FTW !!!!

Also climbed the left exit of Cadillac Hill (Trail39). Videos of course don't do it justice, but that ledge is 6ft tall and undercut.

This buggy just plain works and I'll put it up against any trail riding tube chassis out there.

Then we helped a random stranger and his son that got stranded with their bike.
Nothing a few hands and a buggy could fix. Drove them back 1h or so to their trailer at the entrance and made some new friends.

Wrapped the day by making some crepes for my homies and hanging out around the fire.

Another good weekend ride in the books.

Balanced food and proper hydration is important.

Got lucky and one shot it.

Buggy starting to be dialed good in terms of suspension and engine tuning. So I'm going to change it all.

Some news from the Tickler !

When going over everything after the last ride, I realized my fancy trailing arm weren't real happy...
Turns out I managed to bend both of them, which I think is pretty impressive... They are 2.5x.250 DOM with a full 2" 7075 AL slug inside.
Oops...

IMG_3910.JPG

BKOR let me borrow the big press to try to straighten them back and it took all she had to do so.

IMG_3911.JPG

I did as good of a job as I could.
Massive thanks to Jake to let me use his equipment, I couldn't have done it with the stuff I have at home.

IMG_3912.JPG

Then I started trussing/boxing so I don't have the same problem again.

IMG_4056.JPG

TIG welded everything for the heck of it. Took me wayyyyy too long but I enjoy the process.

IMG_4059.JPG

What the arm looks like after reinforcement. You can see the HAZ from the inside welds of the structure.

IMG_4060.JPG

Done and installed.

She back !

Last week, my buddy Marvin (who owns the Youtube channel Flex, Rocks and Rollovers) hit me up. He was going for a day ride up to Tackett Creek on Saturday and offered me to go with him. Since I wanted an easy test day and just to get back in the woods, this was the perfect opportunity. Plus Marvin is a great dude and it has been a moment since spending time with him.

He picked me up on the way.

IMG_4232.JPG

And we had a great day out in the woods. So good that I didn't even take my phone out of my pocket all day and didn't take any pics except this one at the very end of the day when we were done.

IMG_4238.JPG

Outside of wheeling, I also managed to locate a good used 43 sticky tire so I could mount it on my extra wheel and finally have a spare.

IMG_3854.JPG

And made some more soft shackles, it's a good time burner and a very useful thing to have.
Send me some rope if you want me to build some for you.

I love marvins rig. I watched his video out at Disney and it makes me really want to go now

Absolutely !
This Jeepster is as nice of a custom Jeep build as you can get IMO. It may not look like that but literally nothing of the stock Jeepster was left untouched, outside of the grill. Everything else is custom made in some sort of way. And the damn thing works and racks miles on and off the road.

I put a fair bit of sweat equity in it when it was built and must say it was probably one of the most rewarding experiences of my life when we took it to Moab for a shakedown run.

Drove it around AOP on Sunday.

Caught a lucky bounce up 46

Then one shot Gatekeeper and made my way up Mouthwash.

Then the engine started misfiring above 4000rpm and spraying coolant when held at rev limiter.

After letting it cool down I wasn't able to reproduce the problem. Go figure.

Man, that was a fluid run. Nice driving!

Sounds like the squeaking you were hating on in Marvin's video is still there
