Ok guys quick question

I have an auto 97 yj 4.2. Recently dropped the trans to have it rebuilt
Should I have the fly wheel resurfaced too?

Thanks

Auto trans doesn’t get resurfaced like a manual trans flywheel. Technically, the auto trans has a flex plate not a flywheel. I’d check the ring gear, for wear/broken teeth and look for other damage/cracks. It or all looks good, I’d leave it alone.

As @Jeffncs said, the auto has a flex plate, not a flywheel. He mentioned checking the teeth, and checking for cracks, also, remember when you took out the torque converter bolts, were they all really tight, if not, check the threads, also, as far as cracks, which is a common failure for flex plates, you might pay a little extra at the machine shop, and have them to magna flux the flex plate. Some times, there are crack, that can be over looked because of size, or location. Magna fluxing them will show up any and all cracks. Also, check for flatness. If it isn't flat, then when you re-install it, the stress of the torque converter bolts could cause a rack that wasn't there.
