somebody double-check me...

I've got a radio that cut off several times on me today on the trail...

clock stayed on...but radio cut off and back on multiple times...

that means it's the main (switched) power, not the memory power, right?

also...on the way out (on the gravel roads) it cut off several times, but once I hit the OFF button...the display stayed on continuously, in the exact same type of terrain...

is the display (clock, scrolling options, etc) powered by the memory wire all the time? which would reinforce the fact it's the main power wire?

Thanks.
Greg

greg yes most of the time the clock and memory functions are controlled by the memory wire as is the display. i would concur with yourtroubleshooting as it being in the main power circuit. either the wire or in the radio

another thought. Has it got wet recently?

I had one go completely dead about two weeks ago...which included a small wisp of smoke come out of the dash...

put this one in brand new last week...but never drove the Jeep until yesterday at Uwharrie...

the TJ sits in the driveway with a cover over it, but it did rain...never have had water inside, though...
