I didn't realize how politically incorrect this show was for its time. I can help to wonder if this program would be successful in today's market.....

Dixie Carter and Annie Pott's characters on that show were awesome. I remember it from looooong ago.
I'm trying to remember who the other people were. Gonna have to ask the wife or IMDB later.

Watch me be the only guy here who will actually admit to having watched it.........

Linda Bloodworth-Thomason was/is a flaming liberal.

I grew up watching that show with my grandmother. I remembered back then thinking how ridiculous some of their shows were, Especially given they were BASED in Atlanta (the OLD south)

Some of Julia's "speeches" were written by someone southern. But it was usually tweaked by a big city liberal before it made it to the airwaves.

I always DID want to see Charlene naked though

Oh Yeah, its really to the left but I really didn't pay attention to it the first time it was on the air

that would be considered centered these days.

My wife and I just finished up NYPD Blue not too long ago. Definitely not PC. Andy Sipowicz may be my favorite TV character of all time.

It's pretty enlightening to watch old shows from the 80s and early 90s, and see just how much norms have changed since then.

I was about to say the same thing. I think most prime time television from the 90's and earlier could get categorized in that 'too hot for today' category. I think it's also interesting how society has become desensitized to the softening of these shows. I'll even catch myself watching something from my childhood and think 'wow, they actually just said that on tv...and that was part of my TGIF lineup'. Flip side of that, sometimes I'll be listening to ESPN in the background and think to myself 'holy sh!t, they just said that on network television'...then look up and realize it's a minority anchor, so it's ok. Not to turn it into a racial thing, just expounding on how the norms have changed. Then you have comedians getting lambasted these days...watch some 80's SNL or Eddie Murphy Raw, maybe some Andrew Dice Clay and then let's see if Dave Chappelle is really that 'insensitive'.

That's why Steve Carell said he wouldn't be down for an Office remake. Too much controversy over material they thought was funny. If you go back and watch that series you'll see we were lucky that it aired when it did.

Blazing Saddles CLASSIC!!!
was looking for history of the world part I.....couldn't find it.
I was going to mention The Toy with Richard Pryor.
Master Bates has a black man as a Toy, tell me they'd make that one again.
Side note IIRC I think the kid went on to do porn. Lol.

I dont think so....unless it was part of some bigger joke I was making...

Heck I thought you were around the campfire watching it in Alabama with us during the ECORS days

weren't you the one that said you'd never seen it?

I thought there was a post a few months back saying he’s seen like less than 2 dozen movies in his life, but Blazing Saddles WAS one of them. But he may have been being sarcastic all the way around, I have no idea what his movie watching routine is.

I dont remember the post in question (drunk posting for the win?)...but that would be accurate. Its a frequent source of ridicule/joke amongst my friends and family...lots of pop culture icon type movies Ive never seen. Forest Gump, Top Gun, Jurassic Park notably come to mind...

Eh, ok... you can let all of those others go, as long as you're educated on Blazing Saddles.
