Making progress....

I got my link brackets cut down to fit my brackets, I used a cut off wheel on my grinder, Worked well I must say

Here is what they will look like, They will be welded to the bottom of the bracket

This weekend I will get everything on the frame and the links mounted, Then start cutting the factory mounts off. Should be testing it on Sunday.

Have you tried putting them back on the frame since they've been welded? Would certainly suck if they no longer fit. :flipoff2:

Yes,

The driver side is on the frame now, with the upper in place, I going to have to clearance the factory upper frame mount, Looks like it going to just get into it at full bump. Can't cut it completely off due to it being part of the engine mount brace.

Finally

Well I finshed the front 3 link today.

First I had to cut off the factory LCA brackets

ai298.photobucket.com_albums_mm279_burrellsjeep_003_12.jpg_a97cb1fdd9ef2a295c66b98114db326c.jpg

I had to clearance the Factory UCA bracket for the new uppper. Would have just hit it on the way to full bump. You can see how much I had to remove in the upper right hand corner, Can't clear too much due to it being the gusset for the engine mount.

I test drove it down the road and it did very well, the ride compared to the short arms is next to none. Besides the fact I have no more wobble (Other than tires be out of balance) it tracks well and sees to handle much better. I have the upper set in the middle of the frame bracket, So I have some adjustment in it. It will take some time to determine what works best. I will get some flex shots next weekend at the charity run, Can't wait and can't believe I got it done. Now I just need to 4 link the rear, but it will be a while (Gathering parts)

Thanks to everyone that helped me make it happen

Sterring bushing?

My Rock Krawler TRO steering (xj,d30) has play in the heims at the knuckle like yours did. What exactly are the spacers and/or bushings you have between the heim and the knuckle?
Where did you get them? THX

The bushings are old shock bushings from an old set of shocks I had laying around,

Looks like the one in the middle

acc_shockbushings.jpg

The rubber bushing has a metal washer formed into it. I drilled it out to 5/8s like my heims and then on the non metal side of the bushing I coped the bush with a 3/4 bit. I basically hollowed out a spot in the rubber of the bushing for the ball on the heim to sit in and allow it to sit flush on the knuckle. Then I greased the crap out it, in hopes to prolong the wear on it.

So far they show no wear and are holding up nicely, It does keep it from having roll or play in it. I have more bushing as I feel these will not last forever on there. But so far so good.

Just got back from "Toy for Rocks" run, The jeep did great, I really like how smooth the front is now, Even my wife said how great the ride was, and I even had to explain what I did to get it that way. Coming from my wife who thinks I spend to much time working on the jeep this was a big deal.

Now she wants a full cage and better stereo system in it, Go figure. Hey at least shes interested in it. Makes my life easier.

A few pictures, Had a group of six locals travel up to Mt City for the run and I had my family with me.

More pictures here

All in all I was very impressed with the way the jeep performed. And I believe I have a new favorite wheeling spot. Mt City has it all, Great trails on all levels. Already planing the next trip.

i got some pics of a new back bumper i built i want you to see. ha and also some of the bar i added to my front bumper. every one hates it but me and adam. so i guess i get my camara in and email them to ya see what ya think

Adam showed me some a picture off his phone and it looked pretty good.

Hey who cares if every one hates it, its your jeep build it how you like it.

Well I have been wheeling the jeep with the new arms on the front and it sure does make a difference in ride. Seems to suck up the bumps allot better than before.

The next step is a Full cage, I really need to get some protection in there for the family.

I really like the Genright Sport Cage, But its pricey for a sport type cage.

Just trying to decide either to build it my self or get a kit or take it to a shop. I am getting quoted at a couple local shops to see how it compares, so far its cheaper to let them build one.

I have no plans to put this on its lid, So I will keep the factory hoops and build off that.

I have decided that I will build it my self with the help of some buddys. My plan is to use the dash wraps like Genrights or BFFs.

Sample picture
TJdashplates.jpg

Build off the factory B pillar do a dash bar with some spreaders, then do some bracing on the rear of the cage. I will keep it so I can maintain use of the rear seat. I plan to use 1 3/4 .120 DOM for the whole add on. I will do a frame tie in but it will be the finale piece.

Looks good buddy. Where at mtn city do you ride at? My buddy lives over there and keeps hearin about that place but never been there. sorry for the hijack.
